Former Cardinal Albert Pujols joined some pretty exclusive company Friday night

In sports, you can have your heroes cast in stone. Whatever happens after won't change the moment.

My team had to go through him in 2002, 2010, and 2012

If Ichiro was born about 10 years earlier, and had broken in with MLB at age 18, he could have saved the world.

If so, those stupid fucks would have never dared to glass the earth as they did in 94.

:salute:

Will Ichiro Be Our Last Universally Beloved Superstar?

I have loved baseball (the game, not just the MLB) ever since I was a kid. Lately I've found myself less interested in keeping up with the MLB season and watching games on TV.

This article hits on a lot of what I feel is causing my disinterest:
https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/05/09/james ... un-era-mlb

I noticed the low BA a couple weeks ago. It as .244 then, and it still is now. That is historically bad. So is the strikeout rate. These both have made MLB games less watchable for me than the length of the games. There's less variety every year. Every hitter has turned into Adam Dunn. HR, Walk, or K.

Not sure if this will have a noticeable affect on attendance or TV ratings. I suspect it will a little bit, and if the trend doesn't change it will have a long term negative effect. Hard to judge the attendance figures so far based on how bad the weather has been across the country.

I wish we had more players like Ichiro, who worked to get on base and made the game more interesting.

Base stealing has been almost dropped from the game as well, another casualty of the HR, walk, or K era
