First Brexit conversation just came up amongst the family.
Not a Brexit voter in the house yet there is no agreement on what next.
I've sneaked outside for a smoke, discretion being the better part of valour.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

You were expecting constructive political solutions at your Christmas eve family gathering?

That would have been a first.

Maybe try small talk and feel good pleasantries.... or wait for the eggnog to kick in the drunken family bonding moments... but these likely won't involve Brexit solutions I have to warn you...

To be honest I was quite surprised that it came up at all with my lot.
It wasn't really serious as none of them are really politically minded.
Goes to show that people are getting worried when it is discussed at all by my family.
Oh well, finished my smoke, they should be onto something else by now...

I'm at the in laws this Xmas eve. My mother in law blames my wife for everything from the Earthquakes to E.coli laced lettuce because my wife voted for Trump. The most recent gem is questioning my wife if she feels responsible because we are less safe now that we won't be in Syria anymore.

My mother in law was actually pretty normal, a little lefty, then Trump was elected and she went nuts. My Father in law is cool, but he mostly keeps his pie hole shut. Pretty sure he was a secret Trump voter.

I just focus on the good stuff and remember this politics shit will pass. They won't debate me.

Is your government going to lose Gibraltar?

Not really any point. The Muslims will get it back in due course anyway by taking over Britain.

No. Not while the Gibraltans want to stay British.

No. Not while the Gibraltans want to stay British.
Or do they want to stay in the EU more?

Edit:

Also, it also really doesn't matter I guess to what Gibraltarians want or don't want. The Eu wants the UK/Britain to suffer and most likely than not they can try to take Gilbratar away. The only people who actually voted yes, majority speaking, to leave the EU were people in England and Wales. The rest of the UK really likes the EU. Especially in NI were there are (right now) a semi-open board with the RoI.
