Showing solidarity when political allies make mistakes...

A political ally extremely poorly defends a policy you agree on. Do you:

1. Stay completely quiet out of political solidarity.

2. Correct or add to the political compatriot's posted argument in hopes it will strenghten it.

3. Stay quiet. Prepare for the other side's attack against the poorly reasoned argument by referencing poor arguments from the other side.

4. Nothing. I don't accept the premise that someone else's poor defense or advocacy of my own beliefs, amount to my beliefs being untruthful.

Showing solidarity when political allies make mistakes...

Post by BjornP » Tue Jul 11, 2017 4:44 am

Just a little attempt at insight into how we behave socially when debating politics, no matter our political standpoints. It's especially the question of staying silent when someone who you know shares your ideals, but who either mixes them with some bullshit you don't feel is connected, or when they arrive at the same conclusions you do, but you know that their rationale for getting there do not hold up. How great is the social taboo to stay silent when a political "ally" makes a mistake in reasoning, a mistake that you can be sure will get picked up by the oppose side of the discussion?

Hey, just because I happen to be more virtuous than you two, doesn't mean it's not a good question. :ugeek:

No, you fucked it up. First you admitted to being Swedish, which apparently is like three degrees from being a Jew, and then you admitted to being a red-head. The only other disqualification you neglected was being left-handed. A left-handed, ginger Swede is probably not trustworthy.

Those ancestors were late 17th century Swedes. Pre-SJW Swedes. Hey, and over there in your racial Mongrel-stan, being red-head may be weird and unnatural, but here... true native hair color, man. You're just envious at our ethnic homogenity, I can tell.

And I am right-handed. At least you're right about left-handed people. It's no coincidence, I'm sure, that the Latin word for left is "sinister".
