How's the forum doing? Check-up.

Post by DrYouth » Mon Mar 06, 2017 1:28 pm

I've been pretty busy for the last two weeks...

When I have had a chance to check in... the place seems kind of dead...

Are we in decline?

I guess Martin's Forum was kinda of a leaky lifeboat to begin with.... but exceeded expectations for a little while IMO.

Maybe it's just that the dawn of the Era of Trump was invigorating and but it seems to be bogging down.

I don't think it's dead at all.

We are in our infancy here. It's too early to tell where this is going, still hammering out where this is going. One of the issues I see is how will new members find out about Hashwerks and bring new view points to the community.

If new members are not recruited it will die.

It's not Trump's fault. Quite the opposite.

This place needs a serious shot of IQ from the left.

And probably just new blood of any kind. But we knew that was going to be an issue.

Personally, I post here, or anywhere, just for my own entertainment. However, we do need new posters, somehow.

I do miss Harry, DB, trech, Nick, et al, tho. Probably trech most of all.

+1

100% Agreement !

What's missing is any strong argument from the Left. Repeating shit from the MSM doesn't cut it. Leftist thought seems to have stagnated, not just here, but everywhere.

Hmmmm....

I have to admit as one of the left... I have benefited a lot from the forum from Dan Carlin to Martin Hash...

And haven't really been looking for leftist education...

I think this is the right's era to shine.

The pendulum swing to the left that began in the 50's has reached a zenith and has been swinging in the other direction for some time.

The left is pretty much the establishment. The universities and many institutions remain dominated by it.

The right is having it's day.... as it should... although it will need to refine it's world view if it is going to succeed better than the left did.

I enjoyed Chris Hedges book "The Death of the Liberal Class"... it explains a lot of what has been happening.

We've gotta blame Trump. What self-respecting, well-reasoned lefty would stick his or her neck out around here? Even in his long decline, Dan was moderate, until... I don't know how to put it... the needle got stuck? What's a lefty to say now that the establishment's facade is crumbling away daily?
I'm glad Mr. Hash allows us this space (I do find some interesting perspectives and articles posted here--along with the lulz), but we came together around Dan and Dan has become a political recluse.
I do find it funny to see StA always arising, dripping with froth and blood, to meet the next onslaught, and many complain that he's still here--meeting every onslaught, like totally unfairly!

I never posted much anyway, here or at the DCF, but I like to read--and I cannot argue with my ex-girlfriend's mother (&c.) on FaceBook----
"She had yellow hair and she walked funny and she made a noise like... O my God, please don't kill me! "

This is not just some pendulum swing back towards the right. The "pendulum" will never swing this way again. Something else will certainly replace what we call the left, but the entire paradigm of a pendulum, which presupposes some continuous one-dimensional political spectrum is out as well.

I spent the weekend with an Australian socialist, a lawyer I've debated in the past. Now, however, my arguments are so practiced, I ate him up. Wasn't nearly as much fun.

The RAnt style posters aren't any fun either. He was a typical Lefty. We don't have any of those.

RAnt was actually pretty smart for a good while. Until he went completely insane. I think it is some sort of click-deficiency syndrome he has.
