Seriously, ever notice none of us wear military shit on 11 Nov?

It is super awkward when people go around thanking veterans.

On the anniversary of D-Day, everybody was rocking our colors. 11 Nov.. it's plaid day.
You want to wear military stuff, but you don’t want to be thanked for service... you see how this confuses the rest of us right?
No, I do not. It's just for me. At the gym, it's a good way to signal to other veterans. It's like wearing your university t-shirt in a way. It's just how we tell each other which team we are on.

The guys you want to thank are the ones with medals for extraordinary acts of courage. Even those guys I suspect don't like it.
Well that’s a relief. I’ll quit doing it then.

Signal away, bubba.

You never did it to begin with and if you did, offering your dirty dick jo hand is no kind of thanks at all. Keep that shit to yourself.

I do wear some things on Nov. 11. Just to participate in some events or not have to ask for free shit just get it handed to me.

It's all about the unit. Nobody in the military likes to be singled out as an individual, it's all about the team.

Direct your praise to the unit not the man.

People wearing their unit kit are proud of the unit they served with.

If you want honor military service, learn about the units and honor those.

You can’t expect the general public to do that.
nobody outside the military gives a single shit which group of soldiers you were in, or what they did. Not only that, but that information is very difficult if not impossible to find. Even more so, half of what we hear about what’s going on is bullshit.

The fact that we’re even pretending everything is cool and thanking soldiers is pretty outstanding, in those circumstances. All we know is a ton of people went overseas and killed brown people to secure oil.

I don't find you to be a good example of an American, most Americans are interested in knowing.

As an expert, I can inform them, and they appreciate being in the know

They feel included, which is what they want.

People in the military appreciate that they know their shit, and then there is mutual respect.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I think you need to re-evaluate what a ‘good American’ is. Deep throating the government kill squad is not part of that definition.

I do my best not to treat military guys any differently, but if they want to be treated extra-special for it, I don’t play along. If I’m asked to donate ‘to betwans’, I gently remind the person that I already pay taxes.

Anyway, do you really want to recite your units grand history to everyone you meet?

The Aussies and Brit's have a remembrance day for firefighters, I wonder why that is not more widespread?
