Penguins live in Antarctica, dude. It isn't going under water.
Hey, leave him alone...……… his penguin meme was just as accurate as the rest of the climate science.
What does any of that have to do with ice disappearing from the poles?
derp

Because your statement is factually incorrect. Penguins migrate between two continents that are not going anywhere, and the one you referred to, Antarctica, is still gaining ice rather than losing ice.

And the reason for that?
Ice is produced by precipitation. Global warming increases the amount of water in the atmosphere. More water vapour, more snow.
Doesn't change the fact that warmer sea temperatures are melting ice at record levels.
So the penguin meme isn't strictly accurate, I posted it because I found the wordplay funny and it conveys at least a half truth in its message.

G.K. Chesterton once wrote:
The madman's explanation of a thing is always complete, and often in a purely rational sense satisfactory. Or, to speak more strictly, the insane explanation, if not conclusive, is at least unanswerable; this may be observed specially in the two or three commonest kinds of madness. If a man says (for instance) that men have a conspiracy against him, you cannot dispute it except by saying that all the men deny that they are conspirators; which is exactly what conspirators would do. His explanation covers the facts as much as yours. Or if a man says that he is the rightful King of England, it is no complete answer to say that the existing authorities call him mad; for if he were King of England that might be the wisest thing for the existing authorities to do. Or if a man says that he is Jesus Christ, it is no answer to tell him that the world denies his divinity; for the world denied Christ's.

Nevertheless he is wrong. But if we attempt to trace his error in exact terms, we shall not find it quite so easy as we had supposed. Perhaps the nearest we can get to expressing it is to say this: that his mind moves in a perfect but narrow circle. A small circle is quite as infinite as a large circle; but, though it is quite as infinite, it is not so large. In the same way the insane explanation is quite as complete as the sane one, but it is not so large. A bullet is quite as round as the world, but it is not the world. There is such a thing as a narrow universality; there is such a thing as a small and cramped eternity; you may see it in many modern religions.

The modern progressive is very much like his century's-past antecedents. You have some explanation for every little thing. To wit:

> Global warming is a problem because the ice is melting. Look at this penguin dying on melting ice.

>> But penguins live in Antarctica and the actual data shows that ice is growing there.

> Well, of course ice is growing in Antarctica -- because global warming causes more precipitation.

You are just running around in tight little intellectual circles without acknowledging the disparity between the premise you are trying to defend and reality.

Monty: Global warming is a problem because the ice is melting. Look at this penguin dying on melting ice.

StA: But penguins live in Antarctica and the actual data shows that ice is growing there.

Monty: Well, of course ice is growing in Antarctica -- because global warming causes more precipitation.

Precisely.
There you go, you can accept the truth when the evidence is put before you.

According to your "truth", all evidence, even contradictory evidence, supports your premise. That's not very scientific. If the ice is melting in Antarctica, then it's global warming. If the ice is building up in Antarctica, then it's global warming. Do you really not understand what I am addressing here?

Real science is immanently falsifiable. What you advance cannot be falsified in your mind because any and all evidence is construed to support it. Essentially, any prediction made by your model can be determined to be true or false. Yet it doesn't matter which it is, because you will construe either value as support for your hypothesis. That's not science and it's terribly irrational.

For instance, the famous example of falsifiability of a scientific model is that of general relativity. General relativity predicted that starlight would bend around the Sun. Classical mechanics predicted that it would not. So, during a total eclipse, where a star should fall behind the horizon of the Sun, Einstein's model predicted that we'd actually be able to see the star with a telescope, whereas Netwon's model predicted it would not be visible since it was technically behind the Sun.

Thus, the hypothesis was such that, during an eclipse, astronomers calculated which star would fall behind the Sun enough that Einstein's model predicted we'd still see it because of spacetime curvature, and Newton's model predicted it would not be visible. They set up their telescope that fell in the shadow of a total eclipse one day and waited. If the star was not visible, then Einstein's hypothesis was falsified, and his model not supported. They, in fact, saw the star, however, and Einstein's model was supported because it's risky prediction was not falsified.

Nobody could argue that, if the star was not visible, it was still evidence in support of general relativity. That would be nonsensical. Yet that is exactly what you guys do with your human-caused global warming model. It's not scientific at all. It's actually pseudoscience.

That's not to say I think the climate is not changing. It's always changing. It changes dramatically periodically throughout our planet's history. But your ideology you disguise as science is not science at all, but a pseudoscience.

Global warming has two effects on the ice at the poles.
One is warmer waters melting ice the other is increased water vapour in the atmosphere leading to more snow falling.
They do not equal each other out.
Please do try to keep up, it gets very tedious having to keep going back to help out the slower members of a group when you are walking through life's issues.
