I think I posted the original last time we got onto German electro.
I used to take the 12" single to the club I went to in a run-down Victorian pier in Lowestoft.
I rocked the Billy Idol look at the time

Monte, did you listen to German punks back when? Nina Hagen was pretty big in Sweden.

Nah, no German punk bands really made it in the UK.
I think they came along a lot later, not till after the wall came down.
By 1990 I was listening to Miles Davis, BB King and Lightnin' Hopkins.

In about 1980 my sister's bf was an art student and he was into all the German electro stuff along with Heaven 17, Iggy Pop and Bowie. I still like most of that genre.

Kraftwerk were a big hit in the clubs.
One song that got played everywhere was The Passenger by Iggy

Plus all the goth bands were turning up by then

Dude. Nina Hagen Band and D.A.F. both released their first albums in 1978, Abwärts in 1980, Malaria in 1981 and Die Toton Hosen in 1982 I think.

I only know D.A.F. from that list. There were plenty of English language punk bands around then so not many foreign bands broke through.

I was too young really for the first wave of punk. I was only 11 in '76. It was '79 before I saw my first band.
A lot of the stuff I was buying was ''New Wave'' Ian Dury, Dr Feelgood etc plus Hard Core like Crass and Discharge.
I bought the first DAF album but it was 3 or 4 years old when I got it.
