By itself capitalism just leads to socialism.

It leads there if it becomes unbalanced due to corporatism/corruption. No system is free of corruption....but capitalism takes longer to become corrupt since the resources are more distributed. Communism is the fast track to dystopia because everything is centralized.

Nah. The corruption and corporatism is just part of the process.

It all happens because wealth accumulates into the hands of merchants under capitalism, and merchants are the absolute worst class to run any country whatsoever.

You need a counterbalancing force to maintain your nation in that sweet spot.

This is like the handstand. Capitalism is the kicking force that throws your feet into the air. You need a counterbalancing force to stop yourself from falling over in a handstand, and you need something similar for capitalism.

Capitalism worshippers confuse one force in the system with the goal. It would be like people confusing the k8ck up with the handstand and then blaming the floor when they crash because they never work on their stabiluze4 muscles.

The goal is a stable economy that does not accumulate wealth, which would lead towards collapse or something like socialism. Capitalism can never be a legitimate goal in and of itself. People who believe that worship money.

Judging by the history of Communist genocide, I’m going to have to strongly disagree.

That really makes no sense, DB. If you do not want socialism, then you'd probably want to stop creating the conditions that give rise to it..

I created all this?
Wow.

Well, guess it’s time for the complainers to beat feet out of my dystopia then. Farewell. Good luck in Vatican City, or wherever you’re off to.

Capitalism hasn’t racked up a million man body count yet, unlike multiple socialist and communist regimes. I’m good with it.

What the fuck does communism's body count have to do with my argument??

I said, left to itself, capitalism ends up in collapse or some kind of socialism.

You replied communism's genocides tell you differently.

What does the horrible outcome of communism have to do with the tendency of capitalism to lead towards it due to extreme wealth accumulation?

All the colonies of European powers would beg to differ. Just Belgium puts you over by an order of magnitude. And no weaseling that colonialism isn't capitalism. Resource extraction is a pure natural form of it.

Under the reign of terror instituted by King Leopold II of Belgium (who ran the Congo Free State as his personal fief from 1885 to 1908), the population of the Congo was reduced by half -- as many as 8 million Africans (perhaps even 10 million, in Hochschild's opinion) lost their lives.

Brewster refuting capitalism with stories about colonial monarchies specifically calling out Kings.

Bravo.
