He was evil for murdering countless human beings, plunging the continent into another world war, and condemning half of his nation to plunder and rape by the Soviet army instead of surrendering to the Allies.

He outlined his plan in his book where he literally said he wanted to exterminate all of eastern Europe and Russia to make those places into his personal playground. He was a stereotypical arch villain from any suspense novel.

A leader always should put the wellbeing of their country and people first.

It's how they do it, is where Hitler was wrong.

He liked dogs; he was an animal lover; he liked quiet places, art, and was educated, also a vet.

He listened to the wrong people; he had a weak mindset, his views were not his own, and he was easily manipulated.

He was the perfect politician, his ego got the better of him, and he thought he could do better than everyone else, he attempted to control everything and failed.

As a person, in a purely hypothetical thought process. I'd say no he wasn't evil. Easily corruptible, yes.

Might makes right only to the winners. If might made right, the US would be able to tell the majority of the world to jump, and they would ask how high without question.
