Smitty's last post was Feb 25th, should we put his face on a milk carton?

And a young two-headed monster at that. Dual Franchise Centers FTW

I don't think Hughes will play center, too small, like Kane, like Marner, he'll end up driving a line from the wing.

Patty Kane is the closest comparable, except nobody dances like Kane, Kane is the best, but Hughes will be similar.

I like to throw Roenick some love, call him the American GOAT, but only cause he played like a Canadian.
Truth is, the American GOAT is obviously Patty Kane.

He might not, but if he can despite the size, like Gretzky, I sure wouldn't complain if he's on the Avs. I'd take a Kane/Marner esque winger though, and laugh all the way to the bank, so either way.

If Hughes plays center, it will only be years from now.
He's only 5'10" 180 lbs, he's to small too carry the load at both ends.
He's like Tyler Ennis sized, nowhere near big enough to be a 2C yet.
He's not that good without the puck right now, he's too one dimensional to be an effective center on a contender.
He's smaller than Marner and Marner needed at least one more year to fill out, it would be better to send Hughes to Switzerland or something, rather than throw him straight into the NHL.

What of Brayden Point? He ain't that big. It might take a few a years before Hughes can play center, but not seeing his current size as preventing him from playing center. MacKinnon-Hughes is Stamkos-Point like, Sunshine State Warriors Know.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:48 pmIf Hughes plays center, it will only be years from now.

With the second pick, the Avs are sitting on Alex Newhook, he's actually more ready to play center.

Point is great defensively, Hughes is not that good without the puck, Point is a better two way player.StCapps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:58 pmWhat of Brayden Point? He ain't that big. Hughes is also not physical, Point is much more of a grinder.

Well Point is also older, maybe Hughes can learn to put a little defense into his game after a few years, 5'10" 180 ain't that small if you got the talent to go with it, plus he's going to fill out at least a little bit, which will make him bigger than Point in the end.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 11:00 pmPoint is great defensively, Hughes is not that good without the puck, Point is a better two way player.StCapps wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:58 pmWhat of Brayden Point?
