Yeah GoT fell into the same trap as The Americans this season, saving too much for the ending lead to a dip in quality of this year's episodes, but The Americans still made my list while GoT came up short. Fargo had a drop off from the quality of it's first two seasons, but those two seasons were both the top drama on TV that year, at least on my list, so can't complain too much that it didn't quite live up to that standard this time around, still highly enjoyable. Mr. Robot is an overly indulgent TV show, but the peaks of that show are worth suffering through the valleys.heydaralon wrote:As for the other 8, I'm not sure. GoT was a bit of a letdown, but Mr. Robot had a pretty solid season for the most part. I tried watching Big Little Lies, but I couldn't get into it. Fargo was entertaining, but I liked the last season more.
As for Big Little Lies, I can see why you couldn't get into it, the acting kept me around long enough to get invested enough in the mystery and the ending didn't fuck it up like with most whodunnits once the mysteries are revealed. It's only 7 episodes long, so I blew through it real quick. Why they are doing a second season is beyond me, that sounds like a terrible idea, one season wonderitis alert, big time.
Haven't had time to watch American Vandal yet, but I'll give it a shot, have heard good things.heydaralon wrote:I was let down by a few new shows. Mindhunters and Ozark were solidly mediocre as was Stranger Things season 2. American Vandal was surprisingly funny though. That netflix true crime thing The Keepers was pretty decent.
As for biggest disappointments of 2017, I'd say is probably The Americans, since it went from #2 on last years list to #9 on this years list. Fargo as well dropping from #1 in 2015 to #6 in 2017, but both those shows are still good enough to make the top 10 in a pretty solid year for TV drama's. Stranger Things and Game of Thrones however fell off the top 10 list entirely, after fairly solid seasons last go around, so while they didn't drop off to the same degree as the previous two shows, they are still plenty disappointing. I didn't come away feeling gypped by Fargo or The Americans, like I did with Stranger Things and GoT, even though their was a bigger drop in quality in the former two, so I guess the later two are more personally disappointing for me, even if not technically so.
