Re: International sports bar
What a day for British sport.
I've got Louis Hamilton leading the British Grand Prix on the laptop, England v New Zealand in the one day cricket world cup at Lords on the TV and I'm flicking over to the Wimbledon men's final between Federer and Djokovic during breaks in play.
All powered by the sun btw, before some smart arse doubts my green credentials
I'm going to get nothing done this afternoon...

Re: International sports bar
Well my afternoon was spoiled a bit by having to go and help put up a big tent at the local Latitude music festival.
I was reduced to listening to the cricket on the radio and completely missed the longest ever Wimbledon final.
The cricket was incredible though.
New Zealand batted first and set a total of 241 runs from their 50 overs (300 balls).
Not a huge target for England but a respectable score for the conditions at Lords today.
So it comes down to the last ball of the last over with England on 240 needing 2 runs to win.
The whole world cup comes down to one ball.
The batter hits the ball and is stumped running for the second run.
Match tied, 241 runs each.
This brings the "super over" into play for the first time in world cup cricket history
Each side gets one more over.
6 balls each, sudden death, best score wins.
England bat first, one ball hit all the way to the boundary for 6 two 4's and a single gives a good total of 15.
NZ get to 14 runs on their 5th ball so it is all down to the last ball again.
2 runs to win.
Bang, hit but batsman run out running for the second.
So, both sides on 15 runs it all now comes down to who hit the most boundaries during the match.
So, my uninterested American friends, that is how England won their first ever cricket world cup.
Already being called the greatest ever game of one day cricket.

That would be baseball. No ties or tie breakers. Just play till you get a winner.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 4:24 pmHey look, you can take it or leave it. I'm just trying to improve your lives by getting you interested in the world's greatest bat and ball sport.

Back in 96, the God damned jihadis blew up our barracks and we had to move out into the middle of buttfuckistan Arabian desert, living in tents. The British came with us and talked some Americans into learning to play to break the boredom. Now, I never agreed to play this homosexual sport, but the guys who did try said they abandoned the entire project when it became clear this is no legit sport, and the Brits just make rules up as they go along.

Never really got into baseball, but it's pretty obvious it's the superior sport to cricket.
