Point is, it’s taboo, unexpected, and immediately puts the comedian in make or break territory. They’re either going to stand out as fearless and innovative, or sink like a stone beneath a sea of Twitter death threats and outraged leftist blogs.

It’s funny how things like that happen tho. I’ve “re-invented” a couple of things, only to find that it was done already.

When I was a kid, like 8-10yo, I came up with the idea of making Dragon Warrior into a game that I could play on paper, using dice for the attack and armor and such. Then I saw D&D.
