yes you would spend more and it's not just airborne targets

you want to spend more money for less capability while throwing stones at the F-35 from your glass house about it not being good enough for the pricetag
I don’t want to spend any more money that we don’t have. Thou dost protest too much, mr Canadian.
then you want to reduce capability to save money, after being shown that you can't do what the F-35 does for cheaper

again you are not about the budget, you are just against military spending in general, no matter how efficiently it is spent, and it's obvious

anything that costs money, you just claim it isn't needed, has nothing to do with whether it's needed or not
How is it needed?

I asked very clearly what it could do in defense that we couldn't already. You said CAC. I named the alternative, and you said "nuh uh".

But sure - would you be supportive of Canada mothballing all existing CAC and ground-based radar systems, in favor of the F-35, since it plays that role better?

Alternatively, can you name any existing or reasonably plausible threat that couldn't be handled by existing systems, but the F35 could do?

F-35 Derangement Syndrome is the same as Trump Derangement Syndrome

no matter how much ass Trump whoops, the media has its preferred narrative

no matter if F-35 is actually better than the competition in every respect, the media has its preferred narrative

Again, if we can save a few trillion on other boondoggles with this one, I'm all for it. Go F35!

There's still that issue with supplying oxygen to the pilot, and software glitches... but hey, let's save some money.

the Space Shuttle was expensive, and it blew up twice, every complex machine is full of bugs and flaws, so what ?

the F-15 Eagle has a critical design flaw which can cause it to break up in flight, but every F-35 hater loves F-15

in fact, anybody who is old enough to remember, knows that the media trashed the F-15 back in the 70's

it was a hanger queen, it was too expensive, it was full of bugs, it was a waste of money

all these things were said by the American media about the F-15 Eagle too

this is the media narrative about all weapon systems in general, they never met one they ever approved of

the liberal media panders to its base
