Are restaurants not considered essential over there? Here most of them are still open for take out-only or delivery service.
The pub I was working in is doing a few takeaways but since the landlord hasn't got anything else to do he's cooking them himself.
The state will stop me from starving eventually but those damn bureaucrats are keeping me waiting for my cheque.
I guarantee there is a kitchen looking to hire extra help somewhere.

Bureaucracy exists to stabilize the state, not to serve the population. I wouldn't wait on their check if you can hustle up a side gig.
I have asked at the bakery attached to the pub because he's busier than he's ever been but no luck yet.
There are a lot of jobless chefs out there right now and very few opportunities.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Have you looked into something less glamorous? Like, yer fast food chains, et cetera? They are hiring like gang busters over here. I don't know what the situation is over there, but a little temporary work is work if you don't have an emergency fund saved up.

Not trying to tell you how to do you, I'd just hate to see you suffer undue hardships waiting on a check from an overburdened issuer.
HAIL!

Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Probably be able to do that in the city but out here in the sticks there aren't that many takeaways.
Thanks for your concern though.
Running out of money is a great way to stop smoking though so swings and roundabouts...

Plus, the weight gain that usually attends quitting won't be nearly as big a problem.

Rome had a highly advanced beauacratic State and the steam engine. Why didn't they spark the industrial revolution ?

a) I struggle with spelling bureaucratic too.
b) A Roman steam engine? Tell me more.

A couple of reasons. Mostly that they couldn’t make one strong enough to be worth the effort. Also slavery. Why invest time and energy into something your slave labour was doing for free?

If a highly advanced bureaucracy is all it takes to keep people out of caves, why didn't Rome take this widely known steam engine

You are arguing something neither Monty or I ever said so much as a yay or nay to. We were just talking about how we went from hunter gatherers to a structured state.
