I like soccer, love the world cup, ratings will be abysmal because US did not qualify, but cricket is baseball with ridiculous rules and men who can't throw saying it was a good throw when the ball bounced before it reached its destination. That's rounders. We have something similar here in the US, 4 year olds play it. It's called t-ball.

At least the Yanks can play hockey, even if they mostly enjoy sports that are more domestic and less international in nature. What the fuck is Britain's excuse? I presume you mean ice hockey. Field hockey is played to a very high level in Britain but due to a lack of ice rinks we only have a very small league for ice hockey.
The thing is, as we invented and still play virtually all the ball games in the world our reservoir of exceptional athletes is spread thinly over many sports.We still punch well over our weight in international sports as our 2nd place on the medal table at the last Olympics demonstrates. If you compare our population size with China who we beat into third place it is hard to come to any conclusion other than we are great at sports.

China also needs to get better at hockey. Especially when size isn't important as it used to be in the modern NHL. They need to focus on real sports and less on their summer olympic medal count. Come on PRC, step your game up.

2 bats, 6 stumps, 4 bails, leg pads and a ball v bat and ball.
The need for a well prepared,flat, dry, grass surface to play on is the real limiting factor though. Baseball can be played on virtually any surface because the ball doesn't bounce before the batsman hits it.
