The Head of the MBD contains the Quantum Computer A.I. with sensors and comms

The Operator lives in the Beer Can upright in the torso, like a vertical prison cell

The Tokomak is a Taurus on the back, in the middle is the docking ring for the 'backpacks'

The Space Shuttles are like the X-37, they have wings to go endo-atmopsheric.

It's a big plasma rocket with fuel, for transit, the Fullback is bigger than the MBD, for interplanetary flight

The Halfback is smaller than the MBD, for tactical flight to and from the Drop and Recovery Zones (DZ/RZ)

The Quarterback (QB) Pod is a RAILRucksack, multipurpose, reconfigurable.

The armor is passive, reactive, and active, composite layers with "force field" of smart munitions

Oh shit the Jem'Hadar Camo is going to be real soon?
Bad ass.
Just like Stealth now, it's a system of systems and measures, optical, cryo, all passive, low emission, radio silent

Doesn't make you completely invisible to the Russians, but provides Very Late Detection (VLD)

Low power mode tho, so you're just creeping in this mode.

I've just started the preliminary sketches for the Russian VVK Boyevaya Mashina Kosmicheskaya

I'm basing the face of it on the Avon C-50 Respirator

The Russian's of course have their version of RAILWeapons for the BMK

Space Ivan

The Russians have their own FOH space dock in high orbit as well, outside the TEZ in the DMZ

They call it Aquarium.

The Russian space dock in an Asteroid type Hab, they live inside the Asteroid.

They hollow it out, build docks into the rock, spin it for 1G

Just to give you what it looks like on the map ;

TItan is the center of scientific activity, the International Terraforming Multigenerational Project (ITMP)

It's run by the United Nations, all civilian scientists, including Americans and Russians, they all work together

The Spacepowers however all have their own Moonbases for the program, the Americans base is on Iapetus

Orbiting around Titan are the SpaceLabs conducting the Terraforming

The military forces are in the DMZ alongside, but separate from the Terraformers

The Total Exclusion Zone is lower down in and around the Rings of Saturn, this is where they come head to head.

They can't engage each other in the DMZ, in the DMZ they are in Rescue & Recovery role, safety & security

When they enter the TEZ they are then Direct Participants in Hostilities (DPH) Legitimate Military Targets

The Saturnian System is a Contested Volume, the Spacepowers are fighting for control of it

They are however precluded from interfering with the ITMP in the DMZ, so they fight in the TEZ only

Again, it's like Britain and Argentina in the Falklands in 1982

They only fight in and around the Rings in the TEZ, but don't attack each other outside of, nor directly

The Americans call the TEZ ; The Trace

In the DMZ Terraforming bases, it's like Antarctica, they all live together civilian scientist kumbaya

It's more relaxed here, although there is tight security overall.

There are civilian support staff, there are civilian recreation areas, there are bars, nightclubs, parties.

There are females to pick up, there are restaurants to take them out on dates, there are hotels to bed them

The military personnel around Saturn can take liberty to the civilian moonbases, in uniform, no weapons

All military can mix in this UN zone. So the opposing Operators come face to face here off duty.

Arkeyev & Koval vs. Cock One & Bocks Car, down at the bar, on the moonbase

Spacemerica has it all, space combat, space espionage, space science, space crime, space bar fights, space chicks . . .

So a space battle scenario can go like this ;

There is an accident on a Russian Spacelab during a critical experiment, international humilation

The Russians blame it on sabotage by the CIA, to save face, but also they are paranoid

Tensions rise between Washington and the Kremlin back on Earth

DEFCON Four, the Americans are called back from liberty and go on alert

The Russians escalate into the Trace start moving around the Rings to position themselves against Iapetus

The POTUS orders DEFCON Three, Dak To Company launches into the TEZ to counter the Russians, back them off

The XV-11Bravo Apollo 'Linebacker' MBD™ launch to the Drop Zone by Halfback Shuttle

They commence a Counterforce action in the approaches, the Russians creep in, a standoff ensues

DEFCON TWO, brink of war,

When somebody crosses a Red Line, the shit pops off, recce by force meeting engagement,

DEFCON One, Troops in Contact on the Trace.

Back on Earth the American TRIAD and Russian Dead Hand are on hair trigger alert,

The ICBM's haven't launched tho, that is now DEFCON Zero.

War in the TEZ is war, but DEFCON One is not Armageddon, proxy war in space is conventional war

If that goes outside the TEZ into the DMZ, that could result in lateral escalation in the solar system

If that burns out of control, that could be DEFCON Zero.

Cold War Space Race. Balance of Terror.

For a moment, the lights came on full white in the room, then turned alert red as a loud ringing alarm jarred the Operators from sleep. Following the wake up alarm, the air raid siren warbled. "TACAMO, Sramble, Sramble, Sramble" The Quick Reaction Alert order barked over the sound of the alarms, as the Operators leapt from their bunks into their G-Suits, the suits adjusting to them automatically as they clambered from the sleeping quarters to the dropshoots above their Docks.

Dropping straight down in 1g from the crew deck to the launch decks below, at the bottom the shoot curving, the Operators falls broken by elastic netting, from there they dove straight into the the airlocks of the Main Battle Driods. In 1g they had to climb the ladder up to the flight decks to strap themselves into their G-Chairs. All the while the Driod A.I. co-pilots spun the MBD's up for expedited launch.

"TACAMO, Sitrep, PAN, PAN, PAN, commercial traffic is MAYDAY, American flagged, falling from DMZ towards TEZ, threshold crossing is imminent, flight references inboxed, review en route, immediate action launch, intercept traffic and recover, expedite, expedite" The A.I.s passed the message traffic from higher.

"Jayhawker DELTA, all in the green, checklist complete; go at throttle up" Cock One spoke calmly as he finished strapping in. The sixty foot Main Battle Driod began to drop feet first through the docking port into cold space.
"Go at throttle up!" Bitchin Betty sang in her Southron twang, always cheerful for action.

So, just to describe how the MBD's launch and recover ;

They drop feet first from docks off the spinning Fort Apache space station, with the Halfback shuttles attached.

They drop one at a time like paratroopers, rotating into a head down position as they do

Behind them a larger Fullback shuttle launches from a dock as the tanker.

The Halfback tactical shuttles fire rockets, accelerating them towards the TEZ, then detaches.

The MBD's then rotate so they are facing the Drop Zone on approach like Freefallers, retro thrusters at the DZ

Then they operate in the TEZ on maneuver thrusters. Meanwhile the Halfbacks recover to the Fullback tanker.

Upon exfil, the Halfbacks drop from the tanker to RV with the MBD"s then boost them back up to the station

Then they enter their docks head first wearing the Halfback, then the HB and weapons are racked by the robots

The tanker recovers last, after all the MBD's are docked.

The Operator and A.I are then credited with a Sortie.

The way the refueling works, it's like one big X-37 with four baby X-37's

The Halfback babies attach themselves nose first to the back of the Fullback Tanker

When it's time for extraction, the Fullback thrusts towards the RV and the Halfbacks detach.

They just fall in a stack, that way they don't use fuel, they just spread out and attach to the MBD's for pickup

Then they can RTB at full thrust.

Now I'm starting to work on the designs for the weapons.

Northrup Grumman ArmaLite 50x330mm SuperShot Spacemaster II RAILRifle

Robotic Android Integrated Loadout. (RAIL)

This is where it gets Geardo fun.

I'm gonna make it a Bullpup. Inspired by the Lithgow Arms F90
