There seems to exist a highly lucrative industry niche for always being in beta. You get people to fund your game with pledges and alpha release purchases, but you don't really have to finish the product.

Star Citizen is like No Man's Sky, but raking in much more money from suckers. Or Elite Dangerous for that matter.

They are SIX YEARS into development, not done, and they already are asking for donations to work on the sequel (Squadron 41). Somebody needs to audit and investigate these people. Are we just going to wait until they have two more sequels of not-done games they funded by bilking suckers on Kickstarter?

Okie, ask yourself how long it should take you to develop and release a video game when you pulled in over 150 million dollars in funding. Also, would that game look like Star Citizen for the cost of a real-life mission to Mars? Or would it be the greatest game ever developed, and released years ago?

Does the Kickstarter page actually use the word “sequel”??

150 million dollars, guys.

I mean.. I am getting a little nonplussed about all the scamming going on in our society today. Between the alpha release scam, Ezra Levant's "petitions", and all the kickstarter ads that make Facebook unusuable, it's starting to look like a giant Greek shit salad.

Keeping a game in the beta phase holding pattern is working less and less. People caught on to that one. Early access games don't stay in beta forever.

Squadron 42 is not a sequel. S42 is the original single player game that was the only target of the original kickstarter. It's coming out before the SC MMO. SC has not been in development for six years. Didn't I tell you to stop reading Derek Smart?

Also, you know better than to assume that a lot of money means development should go faster, especially when the project being developed is beyond anything that's ever been done. Even cookie cutter recycled jobs like Fallout and Total War take more than five years to crank out. GTA 5 cost nearly three hundred million dollars to make, and they didn't have to craft one single original mechanic.

But, of course, don't spend a dime on this game. They don't need it. Just wait until it's out.

Anyway, you'll keep going on about this like you have since the beginning, and you'll be just as wrong every step of the way as you've been so far. /shrug.
There will be no Star Citizen
That was back when Derek Smart told you it would never be more than cgi cut scenes, and you believed him.

There is no kickstarter, and S42 isn't a sequel, but thanks for demonstrating to everyone how fakenews spreads.

What the fuck does this have to do with Derek Smart?

I remember when Star Citizen launched, It was 2012!

You can go to their own website and find out that they raised 150 million dollars for this fucking game, and what you see is all they have to show for it!

Dude, Dragon Age Inquisition began around the same time as Star Citizen. So did Witcher 3. Witcher 3 was a HUGE project with a budget of 81 million. They completed that fucking thing in about two years.

WHAT. THE. FUCK. HAPPENED. TO. STAR. CITIZEN.

This is the part of capitalism that gets it right. Star Citizen has NO accountability whatsoever. I am rather confident people are getting indicted for this fucking thing at some point, but you can well see what happens when people are not motivated by reducing costs and meeting basic deadlines.

These crowd-funded and alpha release titles are a fucking disaster except for a few notable exceptions. Even then, those exceptions took a very long time to deliver, and the finished product wasn't really all that much better than the beta versions we had been playing for YEARS before they said they were done.

This guy. The fucking balls on this guy. He promised the game in like three years. He failed to deliver all but like one or two of his goals. He is going on six years now, four of those behind beyond deadline, and he decides to use the money people gave him to start yet another title. Before he completes the one he promised would be completed four fucking years ago.

I am sure he will release something, just to ostensibly claim he met his obligations (which wouldn't hold up in court), but ask yourself if the product you see today is really to the caliber one would expect for a project with a budget of over 150 million dollars and now six years in development. Get real.

When government contractors do this to tax payers, people go to prison.

Modern Warfare 2 was a direct copy past job from the first MW, and it cost two fucking hundred eighty million dollars to produce. SC has a long way to go before it's even in the same league.
