Marner to Matthews quick strike counterattack 1-1

Mathews scores his 30th goal, with half a season to go

On pace for 55 goals which would be the franchise record, currently held by Rick Vaive (54)

The last time a Leaf was scoring at this pace, it was 1981-82

Neither team is playing much defense, this is just run and gun trading chances at each other's goalie

The Leafs have had the edge in possession, the Jets have gotten better shots on net.

Barrie's got some sweet moves.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The Jets used to have a really heavy defence, but with their big three defenseman gone, they are like the Leafs now.

He doesn't drive play tho, primarily because his skating is rather average.

Loafs ponderous powerplay momentum killer

Passing the puck around without taking shots, Tavares gets cute, gets stripped, Andersen coughs up a shorty

I liked that big spin into space followed immediately by another in the opposite direction. Looked sweet to my uneducated eye.

Again, he doesn't drive play.

To drive play is to be like Mitch Marner for example, carrying the puck and making things happen

Barrie is more of a power play specialist, he's got the hands and the shot, but he's not a big skater/puck carrier.

Now that I've seen Barrie close up, I see that he is not better than Gardiner

Barrie is not better than Gardiner defensively, in fact Barrie is worse.

Gardiner on the other hand is a way better skater who drove play in ways which Barrie does not

Barrie is fine at a $2.75 million cap hit, but he's not worth paying big money for.

Andersen is playing a bumbling game here, he's flailing about and fighting the puck

This seems to be part of the Andersen package, he plays great for awhile, but he has periods where he falls apart.

It can't be blamed on "fatigue", it's only the halfway point of the season, the problem with Andersen is mental

He just loses focus and goes in the tank from time to time.
