Nothing to see there but weapons and rum. All legit I assure you. If my statements are not enough I can introduce you to a committee of sharks who welcome further interrogation.

Nec aspera terrent, I'll see the bill of lading for those goods, if you please? If merchant captain you are, as you say, you of course have the bill of lading at hand, all ships docking here must present upon request.

Has the crown had its duty on this rum you mention? A visit from the customs cutter may be in order.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

The man makes a good point, and moreover, those weapons will have to be surrendered for the duration of your stay, captain, if they are as you claim, yours by bill of lading, they will be returned to you when you undock, but in the meantime, they must be put under lock and key with the constable, only the soldiers of the Crown have freedom of the city here.

We have a letter of Marque from the Crown, all government agents will get out of our way under penalty of death.

A letter of marque is of no consequence ashore, it entitles the bearer to take prize on the high seas, it does not supersede the law on dry land. Moreover, said letter binds the bearer to inspection by the Crown, step aside and surrender your ship for inspection, or it is you who invites a death mark, for treason.

No, keep reading. Like all good letters of Marque and Reprisal, it gives us authority on Sea, Land and in the Air. We can do more than government agents, not bound by the law. We Get Shit Done, that the government can't do. That's why were are awarded these privileges.

No such authority is granted, no such privileges exist, if privateer you be, you will surrender to inspection, if not, you are engaged in unlawful piracy by default, sir. A letter of marque entitles you to your prize, no more, no less, but said prize is none the less subject to inspection.

And furthermore, all arms taken by letter of marque are property of the Crown, so surrender those weapons forthwith.

The Crown signed it and gave us authority.

Of course we have the authority. What would be the use of a letter of Marque and Reprisal if we had to follow imaginary borders land or sea.

Do you have a Letter directly from the crown showing your authority? Where are your credentials ?
