American Animals is the best movie I have seen this year. I saw it at a theater that plays indie films with my girlfriend. Made by the guy who made the imposter, which is in my top five docs of all time. Great movie, which is a rare thing these days. No superhero or comic book stuff, so fortunately we didn't develop down syndrome upon leaving the screening...
Better Call Saul is enough criminal activity for me. I'm also kind of getting tired of soft or not so soft porn tropes as enticing as they can be. That's what actual porn is for.Though ill admit Spartacus was worth watching.
Thanks for the suggestion. Have you seen the movie
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6053438/?ref_=tt_rec_tt

Or this new show with Sean Bean "Broken"
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6078644/?r ... lmg_act_12

Or this newer show about the Templars
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4555364/re ... ef_=tt_urv

I will check out the trailer for those shows you mentioned. The Deuce doesn't glorify porn. It isn't erotic watching it, and despite having pretty actresses, that isn't the point. It is a criticism of the entire porn industry and shows how the sausage is made. It deals with brutal but charismatic pimps and mafia members running porn coin machines. Watch an episode. David Simon runs circles around anything you have seen on television. Breaking Bad is a fucking poorly made cartoon in comparison.

Saw First Reformed. Wasn't impressed, though the trailer intrigued me. As far as Better Call Saul, it is made by Vince Gilligan. That means it is overrated as fuck to say the least. Breaking Bad is not a good show imo. I don't care what the critics say. I have already debated people on this forum about the merits of it, but my biggest complaint with it is how unrealistic and corny it feels. I cannot buy people in real life acting that way. I just can't. They are retarded carricatures of real people, and the fact that they always use these convoluted MacGyver schemes to solve their problems is gimmicky and boring. Watch the Wire. I cannot over stress how much better it is than any tv show you have ever seen. I have never been to Baltimore, but David Simon has. He was a reporter there for 17 years. He understands the city, the gangs, the drugs, the cops, the politicians, the schools, the blue collar workers, the street people. His show feels more real than anything ever presented on tv. Seriously, I tried to get GCF to watch that show, but he thought it was some police show. It isn't. It is like a complex novel on tv. Game of Thrones sucks. Breaking Bad sucks. Watch the wire. I'm serious dude. It is amazing. No one cares, so I'm going to stop giving good advice. This show will ruin tv for you, because nothing else has ever come close. I saw the finale over ten years ago, and even in the Golden Age of television that critics purport we have, there hasn't been a serious contender for the Wire's top spot. I'm not trolling or kidding around. That show is amazing. Fuck Ozark, fuck everything else on tv atm (except the Deuce).

I could give other recommendations, but the Wire and the Deuce are head and shoulders above anything else. That is my only real advice on tv. Watch them and then realize how cheated you are when watching the other programs.

I watched the Wire years ago and thought it was very good. I don't know if it was the best but what is really. I love GOT a lot even all the flaws. Its the mash up of good characters, acting, overall themes, set design and spectacle. I would say it appeals to me more than Sopranos, Wire, Boardwalk, or Band of Brothers. But id put all of them in the same ballpark.

I think Game of Thrones was a legitimately good show for about 3 seasons, but I never considered it a great one. Even back then I never felt it came close to Sopranos or the Wire. The writing isn't close and I really hate CGI and fantasy stuff on tv. The show was ok when that crap was on the backburner, but then it became, Transformers: the show with magical dragons that could resolve a plot in 5 minutes and zombies that looked crappier than the ones on Walking Dead (or as I like to call it Walking Shit). To me, it became very apparent they were injecting in 3rd wave feminism and social justice stuff too. Even so, I still think its better than Breaking Bad. That show was pretty boring, unless it was ridiculous. Is Breaking Bad trying to be a dark comedy? Not funny enough. Is it a gritty drama? Not realistic enough. I don't understand the appeal of that show. To me it was pretty lousy.

Anyway, I dislike almost all tv, and I blame David Simon for that, but if you watched the Wire and weren't as blown away as I was, we just have different tastes. I do think the Deuce is better than anything that has been released since that show though. You are welcome to disagree, but that's pretty much all I have to recommend tv wise atm. I get roped into watching a lot of middlebrow horseshit with my girlfriend, and the only tv people talk about at my job and social life are shows that I think are borderline retarded, so I end up getting irritated at the whole medium. Like, if you have an hour and you can learn something cool by reading, or you can better yourself by cooking or working out, that is a huge opportunity cost to waste on something like Ozark or some other halfassed network piece of shit. I have trouble not getting angry when I end up watching Criminal Minds: Sacramento or Stranger Things. I don't get how people can settle for this shit. If that's my only option, I'd rather read tbh. I know you read a lot too, so you probably share some of these sentiments.

New Bruce Willis film coming out, Air Strike
based on the Bombing of Chongqing in WWII, Mel Gibson is part of the brain trust for the flick
Looks like Willis is playing an American military advisor in China in 1938

Looks like it has potential but wary that it looks to produced/polished. I can't wait to do that movie about the Battle of Tours with Gibson. ;)

Ironclad and any Sean Bean flick is usually decent. Cheers.

Hereditary is simultaneously the best horror movie and best psychological drama of the year. Well written, well acted, and great set design.
