Yeah wearing a gi against Royce is a bad idea, but fighters were never required to wear equipment that they could get choked out with, so again that changes nothing. Obviously even under the old rules, people would have caught on about the not wearing a gi, or any clothing that a grappling specialist can use to their advantage on the ground by grabbing ahold of it, especially against a jiu-jitsu specialist like Royce. If they didn't, then they deserved to lose.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:A lot of chokes are equipment based, and nobody in MMA wears a gi anymore... so I guess there is that.StCapps wrote:None of the shit Royce was good at is banned in today's MMA, what are you talking about?GrumpyCatFace wrote:Of course he wouldn't. Soccer kicks are a lot more useful than lapel chokes in MMA, bet that, if anyone's hands are tied more by the unified rules of the two fighters, it's Jose Aldo, not Royce Gracie. Grumpycatface still wants to pretend the Royce Gracie is the best fighter the world has ever seen, because he choked out some dudes who were way bigger than him, because they had zero ground game, but that is a joke to anyone who knows anything about fighting. Royce Gracie in his prime couldn't hang today at 170 pounds in the UFC, that's how much the sport has passed him by.
