Disagree. It doesn't romanticize drugs at all. It is very critical of society as a whole. It is cool though.

And the accents are Scottish.

WTF Nuke. Classic movie. Brilliantly acted, superb script and the best British director of all time.
Maybe the Scottish accent was difficult to follow and the humour too British for you.

I gave Trainspotting about 1/2 hour. IIRC, it hit a bit too close to home - in the 80's, I dated a couple of heroin addicts. Brutal addiction.... brutal. I was not kind to myself in the late 80's/early 90's. I figured it out, though.
