Probably. McCain helped speed up the sport cleaning up it's act, so history has vindicated him on that political grandstanding he did regarding it, leading to it getting banned in many states. Some MMA fans still hold a grudge against him for that, not me though, there are so many better reasons to hate on McCain, and MMA is better for it these days.

I just don't know if it will work the way people think, since a lot of the unorthodox moves are great in MMA due to the more varied angles of attack, but will be pretty pointless in strict boxing. Eg. McGregor can control range when a clinch has a combat application, but Mayweather knows how to get inside and jam up an opponent that isn't allowed to knee or grapple.

For sure. McGregor is never going to out technique Mayweather with straight boxing. I am actually really curious how McGregor's side-on stance is going to work. I mean... it isn't really something that a lot of people do in MMA either, and for good reason, but he makes it work because he is some sort of violence savant.

But still, dollars to doughnuts, I would bet on Mayweather if I were a betting man. Almost certainly decision, but still Mayweather.
