Re: Literal Odds and Ends
Now that I think about it, I think you will be okay if you wire them in parallel. Definitely don't wire them in series unless you know how to avoid fucking up your alternator and probably a few other components. Just wiring the aux batteries to the main battery in parallel will only increase your capacity without messing with the voltage.
But.. I don't know much about automobiles. They only taught me electronics on fighter jets, and we didn't dick around with the design.

Re: Literal Odds and Ends
Everything in your van is meant to run on 12 volts. That's why you want to stay there.
Adding more batteries in parallel will keep you at 12 volts, but increase your amp-hours available.
Are your auxiliary batteries deep cycle? If not, trading them out with deep cycles will protect them from damage if you run them down. Typical car batteries do not like to be discharged.

I got one deep cycle as ignition, one deep cycle as an aux and one pos Chinese battery I'm going to use as an aux. I don't plan on upping the voltage.
Wow that was a fucking eye opener EinsteinEverything in your van is meant to run on 12 volts.

The problem is.. where are these batteries stored? You have to run decent cables between the batteries.

That is the problem. Not so much the storage but the gauge. The gasses emitted are minimal I keep them in the cabin away from me

I think you need 6 gauge cables for that. So you need an opening to run two of those into your engine compartment, and then seal it so you don't get any air from the engine compartment into your cabin.

Been using twelve gauge but I had it hooked up so basically the aux was parallel with the ignition. I'm not happy with that though. It's a long story I would need a diagram and have some wiring to do right now.

Should definitely be wired in parallel with the main battery.
