Traditional version:

It is a late Saturday night and all the youth in Hårga have gathered to dance at the lodge. Suddenly, in the middle of a dance, the music is interrupted and a new fiddler steps out from the shadows. He had a big dark hat on his head and under it you could see a pair of "burning" eyes. The fiddler lifted the violin to his chin and began to play a song that no one had heard before. All the young folks immediately started dancing to the new tune but once they got into the dance, they couldn't stop dancing. The dance continued throughout the night and when dawn arrived, the fiddler began to walk out of the lodge. After him, all the dancers followed in one row. They couldn't stop dancing. The tune of the violin was constantly pulling at their feet. As the church bells rang calling to the worship service, the dancers disappeared with the man. A girl was left on the dance floor in the lodge. She was lame and couldn't dance. No one had listened to her when she tried to warn them of the fiddler, only she had noticed the cloven hooves he had instead of feet.

The tale goes on with the fiddler leading the dancers up on Hårga mountain where they danced until only their skeletons remained. Some say that you can still see the marks from the ring dance on Hårga mountain, and if you dare to venture up there at night during full moon it is said that you can hear the music that the devil once played to those who died.
