Mayweather should be an absolutely massive favorite, he's been a bigger favorite against way better boxers than MacGregor, the line is fucking ludicrous. MacGregor does not win 1 out of 3 boxing matches against Floyd Mayweather, not even close, more like he wins 1 out of 50 boxing matches, if that. Buster Douglas was 42 to 1 underdog against Tyson, but he was heavyweight and an actual professional boxer, he had a better punchers chance against Tyson, than MacGregor has against Floyd. yYet the line is set where it is, because the hype has the betting public completely fooled into thinking Floyd has a realistically shot at losing, when it\s actually a really remote possibility.

The two biggest names in combat sports are fighting each other, and they are both masters of selling a fight. That's the short answer.

Also the public wants to see the young charismatic trash talking underdog win, and more importantly, they want to see the old, technically slick, scumbag favorite lose to him, while both fighters play into that wishful thinking among the public to line their pocketbooks.

The result is the most overhyped fight in the history of time, with a betting line that doesn't reflect what is likely to happen because of how warped the public perception is, compared to what is most likely to go down.

One of the all-time great boxers is boxing an MMA fighter. MMA is popular enough that people think he has a chance, so the money has gotten out of control.
