The producers, from Sad Engineer Studios, told the Digital Trends website that the app works by two users bumping their phones together to instantly see if they are related.

"The 'Incest Prevention' is a fun feature that the user can enable through the options menu which will notify him with both text and sound if the one he bumps with someone who is too related to him," they said.

"We aren't sure if other countries have such interestingly interwoven bloodlines like we do, but we’re pretty sure the Icelandic genealogy database is unique in its completeness.

The developers told Digital Trends that they're unsure if the app has prevented any unlucky matches yet, though a user on Google's Play Store said that it would have been some use to him if he'd have had it last year. At least there won't be any fights over wedding guest list spaces for husband and wife.

They need a little diversity.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

In this one case, you make a valid point.

Dude. There's no place on earth with a more solid "white majority". Get over there, and start breeding.

Yeah, Iceland is know to be a very limited genetic gene pool. People do study it but since there has been relatively few "new comers" to put down roots, Iceland is pretty much homogeneous when it comes to it's DNA. Then again, they were smart enough to name their island, "ICEland" so to ward off as many new comers as possible. Also, a great place to do all sorts of DNA tests and finding shit out:
It's an approach that has its limits. Iceland’s homogeneous population makes it much easier to find those kinds of outliers, but it's still only a country of 325,000 people. That limits the potential discoveries to variants that exist in that population. To do the same type of work in more diverse populations, geneticists will need more volume. "On a larger scale, in an outbred European population, you’d need a much bigger reference population and many more genomes," says MacArthur.

Makes me curious what the minimum viable breeding stock for humans would be. It can’t be that big.

I think that this has been hotly debated but I think that the number (that I once remember hearing but I can't remember where) was something like 100 to 1,000 breeding age adults. NOW, I am going to assume that their would be a 50/50 male to female ratio and that everyone gets paired off.

Viable? First cousins. Desirable? At the very least least second/third cousins and out. Asking for trouble though that close. Jews actually have specific inheritable diseases due to excessive inbreeding.
According to a new study, all Ashkenazi Jews are basically cousins. More specifically, Ashkenazi Jews are at least 30th cousins. LiveScience reports on the international team’s new study, which found that “the central and eastern European Jewish population, known as Ashkenazi Jews, from whom most American Jews are descended, started from a founding population of about 350 people between 600 and 800 years ago.”
