I grabbed a fresh pineapple from the pub before I left so pizza will be on my menu in the near future.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Followed closely by some tempura-battered veg with sweet and sour sauce.
Then if there's any left some deep-fried battered pineapple rings with maple syrup.

Plus, there isn't any other job where you get to eat your mistakes.
I was aviation oriented because of my grandfather and uncle both being military pilots
But I wasn't good in school, so I had to find another role
Then the Falklands War came, Paras, Marines, Guards, Gurkha's, that's when I decided to be an infantryman

Re: considering suicide
I practically became obsessed with the Falkland Islands War
Not just the history, but testing myself against the same physical challenges
Even preparing to join the army I was doing route marches with 120 lbs pack
My best friend is sort of like Monty, half English, half Spanish, born in England, moved to Canada
So we trained for the army together and we joined together, bringing another mate with us, like the Pals battalions

And that's how I got to know Andalusia
As when we got posted to Europe, my best friend was half Spanish, and he had all the connects in the South of Spain
Including the keys to a villa in the shadow of the Alhambra

I started in a pub down by the river aged 14.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 7:59 amI was a pretty much like Prince Harry, military enthusiast from short pantsMontegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 2:17 amThat's the trick happiness. Used to do 90 meals in an hour and half on my own every Saturday. One a minute, I learned early on that panicking just slows you down. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
It was a buzz, I had an old gal as my mentor called Evil Edna. She was great.
After that I was hooked. Dad freaked out a bit at first when I said I wanted to quit 6th form and go to catering college. He expected me to go to Uni and get a job using my head not my hands. He didn't stand in my way though. Halfway through my first year he sold the house and bought one 50 miles away so I was out on my own aged 17.
I moved into a shared house with a cute girl I knew from school who was at art school 20 miles from my college and bummed a lift in my classmate's MG Midget.
Nearly 40 years and as many hot waitresses later here I am, still loving it.

My natural lazy hedonism is only offset by Queen Elizabeth & Maggie Thatcher
I will go over the top for H Jones, but for any other type of work, fuck that shit

Re: considering suicide
There was also my American side, influenced by my uncle who flew for the First Team
He's very old now, but he was like the real life version of Colonel Kilgore
Bobby Duvall talks about how he studied the Air Cav for that role, and my uncle was the archetype, real deal
My uncle knew Hal Moore, personally.

Re: considering suicide
And just like me, my uncle loved the mythical Apocalypse Now, but he didn't like We Were Soldiers
He did not like the way Mel Gibson came in and made shit up that didn't happen
It's a shame that it is the only movie they've made about the Ia Drang
Coppola captured the spirit of the First Team, but he didn't try to re write history
