They went on a hot streak, MacKinnon got hot, but they will come back to earth, and as things tighten up down the stretch, the Av's will be exposed, they'll miss, not a huge miss, but they'll fall just short.

They went on a hot streak, MacKinnon got better, and while they might not get 97 points, they probably won't fall as far as you expect them to. Could easily blow it, but that's less likely than them being a wild card team imo.Smitty-48 wrote:They went a on hot streak, MacKinnon got hot, but they will come back to earth, and as things tighten up down the stretch, the Av's will be exposed, they'll miss, not a huge miss, but they'll fall just short.
MacKinnon ain't just hot, he's practically a completely different player, he had the potential all along, he's just now beginning to realize it, but now he sees the ice sooooo much better than he ever has before, it's like everything is happening in slow motion to him and he's Neo from The Matrix.
Those shots to the chest from agent Smith, that was the 2016-2017 regular season, but now he's reborn.
Super Saiyan MacKinnon is here to stay, he might cool off a little, but he could just as easily keep it going.

I'm starting to think the Leafs could miss, Babcock is coaching this team into the ground, Most Overrated Coach in Hockey.
Would just take one team in the Atlantic to get hot, and the Leafs could have it slip out of their grasp, starting to think wouldn't be such a bad thing thing neither, they could use another pick, and Babcock needs to be put in his place.

Yeah but the rest of the Atlantic is so shit, that doesn't matter. I'd worry about losing to Boston in the first round, missing the playoffs, not so much.Smitty-48 wrote:I'm starting to think the Leafs could miss, Babcock is coaching this team into the ground, Most Overrated Coach in Hockey.

Would just take one of them to get hot down the stretch, if somebody starting closing on the Leafs, the Leafs would panic and fumble the ball.StCapps wrote:Yeah but the rest of the Atlantic is so shit, that doesn't matter.Smitty-48 wrote:I'm starting to think the Leafs could miss, Babcock is coaching this team into the ground, Most Overrated Coach in Hockey.
Like I say, wouldn't be the worst thing actually, management needs a wake up call.

True, but that's more of outside chance than most likely outcome, just saying. Both have to coincide, only one of those won't do it, I wouldn't be that shocked if it did happen, but I would be surprised.Smitty-48 wrote:StCapps wrote:Yeah but the rest of the Atlantic is so shit, that doesn't matter.Smitty-48 wrote:I'm starting to think the Leafs could miss, Babcock is coaching this team into the ground, Most Overrated Coach in Hockey.

Re: NHL 2017-2018
Not worried about that, I take the long view, Tampa Bay is winning the Cup, and the Leafs ain't good enough, period, making it past the first round doesn't win anything, I don't care about beating Boston, that's neither here nor there, they're gonna lose to Tampa in the next round even if they do, cause they ain't good enough, they ain't going nowhere with this defence.StCapps wrote:I'd worry about losing to Boston in the first round, missing the playoffs, not so much.
The team needs some serious work, they're not good enough, even if they beat Boston, ergo, don't care about beating Boston.

95% chance of the Leafs making the playoffs, sportsclubstats would be shocked if they missed.

I'm practically rooting for them to miss now, I'd honestly rather have another top ten pick than make the playoffs right now, the Leafs turned it around too fast, they're not ready to contend, so better to spiral down than to make it to the second round, second round don't mean shit.StCapps wrote:95% chance of the Leafs making the playoffs, sportsclubstats would be shocked if they missed.
Build to be a contender, that's the Shanaplan, don't worry about the second round, take the long view, the second round is neither here nor there, who cares?

Re: NHL 2017-2018
More playoff experience doesn't help build a contender? Took the Pens and Hawks a while to get rolling, they didn't just win right away, they had to take their lumps losing in the earlier rounds of playoffs, don't see why the Leafs would be any different before they are ready to contend. I mean the only reason to be worried is because it's the Leafs, but if the team had another name, I wouldn't be worried, it's the Harold Ballard curse thang.Smitty-48 wrote:I'm practically rooting for them to miss now, I'd honestly rather have another top ten pick than make the playoffs right now, the Leafs turned it around too fast, they're not ready to contend, so better to spiral down than to make it to the second round, second round don't mean shit.StCapps wrote:95% chance of the Leafs making the playoffs, sportsclubstats would be shocked if they missed.
