Cloud City has viability.

Venus is closest, just a short trip from Earth.

The thick atmosphere protects from the solar radiation.

The gravity is earth like, 9/10ths

The atmospheric pressure at 50 km up is earth like.

Oxygen is a lifting gas on Venus.

The clouds below can be mined, to include making more oxygen.

Basically you just need big domes to view the sunsets

Mercury is a funny one. Being so close to the sun means it's in a tidal lock. Every mercury day lasts for two mercury years. 176 earth day.
Mercury can be the Globalist prison planet, the crawlers are serviced by convicts.
The wind above the tops of the clouds circulates at up to 185mph.
A lighter than air sailing yacht can circumnavigate Venus in 2-3 days. Regattas bring in the tourists twice a year.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It can be the Culture colony. HAL 9000 AI enabled anarchic libertarianism, Banks World.

The cloud cities over Venus are like supermassive cruise ships.

They just sail in fleets, they're constantly in motion.

There are tethered docks where they take on fuel and oxygen.

There is no danger of explosive decompression, so if there is a leak, they just patch it.

They have domed observation decks with are like giant greenhouses / recreational areas.

It's like a Culture GSV on a smaller scale.

It's luxurious. If Mercury is the Prison Planet, Venus is Retiree World

Mars on the other hand, is a hell hole.

Due to the radiation, most of a Mars colony is underground.

Everything on the surface is blasted by the sandstorms.

Everything is old and busted and sandblasted.

The Mars Underground is a Space Ghetto.

The principle enterprise on Mars is shady off world business.

Mars is the Gangster Planet.

Eventually Mars will have a revolution to overthrow the Gangsters.

Then it can be a Soviet Planet, Dictatorship of the Martian Proletariat

The American Mars colony is the only outpost of law and order on Mars

My Martian storyline is a fusion of Wild West and Gangland

The American protagonists are like Martian Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday.

Although because they are Astronauts, they're fighter pilot cowboys

I've modeled them on Neil Armstrong as the Sheriff, Robin Olds is the model for his Deputy.

War on Mars is like Gunfight at the OK Corral meets the Saint Valentines Day Massacre.

Again, no need for futuristic guns, there's no reason for guns to change

they use the same guns on Mars as we use now,

Same manufacturers, same models, AR's & AK's, S&W's and Glocks, Remington 870's & Barret M82's

It's the same Gangsters too, the Zetas and MS13 are Martians now.

Mars is a miserable place, so the drug trade on Mars is always booming.

The Spacemerican colony on Mars is called the Alamo. Fort Apache the Bronx in Space.

If you want exotic alien creatures, there's only one place they could be in this Solar System

And that would be under the ice on Europa. The largest ocean in the solar system by far.

Waterworld. The setting here is like James Cameron's The Abyss, it's like living on the seafloor

This is where your alien creatures are found,

but they are like giant versions of the strange sea creatures which live in the pitch black depths of the ocean

So there would be a lot of florescent and light making creatures.

It's not intelligent life, but it is sentient. The aliens are fish.

The largest colonies in the Jovian system are of course on Ganymede.

Because again, it has a magnetosphere.

Hence, it is safe for humans.

Thus, you can pack of lot of them in there.

It's the center of human activity around Jupiter.

The setting is like Moonbase Alpha from Space:1999

It's Moonbase Cities. Moonbases on steroids.

This is where NASA and ESA rule. It's scientists, explorers, the Mission Specialists.

Security is very tight, Moonbases are compartmentalized and controlled, giant government space stations.

The most important colony of all however, it at Saturn

That being Titan. Titan is the Holy Grail. Titan has become like a religion unto itself.

The Terraformers. Titan is a primordial mini-earth. Titan can be terraformed.

The Terraformers live in habs around Titan, they explore Titan and terraform from there.

The Satrunian support base is on Iapetus. Another Moonbase City, but the Terraformers are more than just scientists

If you're going to have a big war for all the marbles, it's going to be over who rules Titan.

Saturn is the most contested space in Space.

In terms of ship to ship combat, Saturn also has a sea, the rings of Saturn provide cover and concealment.

Ice War. It's only a kilometer deep, but it's massive in the linear dimension.

All callsigns, this is Fighting Cock, radio check, radio check, how copy?

Snake Eater, loud and clear.

Shark Man, loud and clear.

Liberty Belle, loud and clear.

Bocks Car, loud and clear.

The American Apollo's advanced by rolling over watch through the frozen rings of the Saturnine Sea
