Oh shit I am old. All time great that doesn't have Ali or Tyson (as a last name, yo) is lost on me. But then again I am now an MMA fan and bossy refs breaking up a hug fest is foreign to me.SilverEagle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:07 pmNope. 40’sHaumana wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 6:04 pmoh.SilverEagle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 4:52 pm

That ref was bullshit. He should’ve let them punch it out but he kept breaking it up. He was helping Wilder big time by doing so.Haumana wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:17 pmOh shit I am old. welcome to boxingSilverEagle wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 3:36 amThat ref was bullshit. He should’ve let them punch it out but he kept breaking it up. He was helping Wilder big time by doing so.
that is what the ref is supposed to do
and most refs would have broken it up more than he did
he did a great job of staying out of the way and letting them fight it out
doesn't get much better than that when it comes to reffing boxing
just goes to show what a thankless job it is
when you do that well and still get shit on

I don't remember any Ali or Tyson fights which had 5 knockdowns.

the Thrilla in Manilla is still the best heavyweight fight of all timeMontegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 4:30 amI don't remember any Ali or Tyson fights which had 5 knockdowns.
knockdowns aren't everything
competitiveness and durability matter
as good as Wilder-Fury III was
it was obvious Fury was going to win the entire time
and neither guy went through the hell that Ali and Frazier did in Ali-Frazier III

These two guys slugged it out for 11 rounds. No one sided contest, no rope a dope snoozefest for most of the fight, just standing toe to toe trading punches until one of them couldn't get up again.
