He's cool dude/ watched a couple short documentaries on him and his JRE interviews. I do believe his breathing techniques and cold exposure are therapeutic but I also believe in the benefits of the dry sauna. If you do that three times a week it will likely increase your longevity and cardiovascular health. The Northern Europeans are all about their saunas for a reason.

"Winter-bathing" has been an on-off trend since the 19th century here, even more popular now, though. Until recently mostly excersiced by groups in the +40 age range, but in recent years more people below 30 are starting to enter the winterbathing clubs. It is generally recommended to never winter bathe alone if you're a novice winter bather, since there is a risk of passing out.
But still, lots of doctors here also recommend it for the reasons already pointed out.
