I think he meant the Padres; they're paying more to players that have been dealt (mainly Shields and Melvin) than they're paying their active roster.clubgop wrote:Who? The Dodgers? It was Carl Crawford the price for getting AGone and that was when the team was in receivership better that money go to Carl Crawford then that dude's ex wife.GrumpyCatFace wrote:They should stop making trades. They are not good at that.Mercury wrote:
Yeah, there's a lot of dead money in those totals. 2x as much as last year, league-wide. The Padres are paying more to former players than to their active roster.

Dodgers did what they had to do.

This dude wrote a book (https://www.amazon.com/Ty-Cobb-Terrible ... ds=ty+cobb) about Ty Cobb that I've been meaning to read. He argues that Al Stump's biography of Cobb was basically a smear-job.

Saw that video, always knew that first book was some sort of hatchet job.Mercury wrote:This dude wrote a book (https://www.amazon.com/Ty-Cobb-Terrible ... ds=ty+cobb) about Ty Cobb that I've been meaning to read. He argues that Al Stump's biography of Cobb was basically a smear-job.

The movie, Cobb, based mostly on it, was pretty hard on the ole Peach, but this scene stuck with me:clubgop wrote:Saw that video, always knew that first book was some sort of hatchet job.Mercury wrote:This dude wrote a book (https://www.amazon.com/Ty-Cobb-Terrible ... ds=ty+cobb) about Ty Cobb that I've been meaning to read. Louis Prima: With all the great players playing ball right now, how well do you think you would do against today's pitchers?
Ty Cobb: Well, I figure against today's pitchers I'd only probably hit about .290
Louis Prima: .290? Well that's amazing, because you batted over .400 a... a whole bunch of times. Now tell us all, we'd all like to know, why do you think you'd only hit .290?
Ty Cobb: Well, I'm 72 fucking years old you ignorant son of a bitch.
