So Space Separatists, hiding in the Asteroid Belt, who are rebelling against Russo-Europe, seeking support from whoever else will give it to them. Perhaps America will be about to back them and use them as a proxy, but they are too impatient and think the Americans were too slow to act and thus don't really have their back, leading to them tragically to attacking America right before they side with them, turning America against them as well.

It's a military battlespace, the only civilians out there are on mining ships and merchant cargo vessels

I'm betting the Asteroid Belt is where the first civilian separatist terrorists seeking independence will form, seeing as it's the best hiding place in the solar system, hence why you call it the Asteroid Sea. Their goal will be to take Ceres for themselves from the Globalists and America, but won't be able to do it and will have to hide elsewhere in the Asteroid Belt until they are in a position to attempt to do so. I'm guessing the first real attempt will be a doomed lost cause.
