Re: The Chapel
In science, what matters is a model that makes falsifiable predictions that we can test and duplicate. String theory and multiversus ain't that..

So I have gotten as far as theism?Speaker to Animals wrote:DrY seems to have gotten that far. He just doesn't know how to whittle it down from there.
So I'm a theist...
Well that's something.
I read Karen Armstrong's the History of God... found it pretty worthwhile.
We'll see if I get around to some of those other references...
In the meantime just posting some musings...

I mean more in the sense that you begin to see the contradictions in atheism.
If you put all the modern belief systems in a deck of cards, atheism has the least evidence to support it, hence the "mulitiverse" fiction.
Say what you want about everybody else's belief system, atheism is the least probable of all. It's entirely contradicted by it's own axioms (the same axioms underlying science itself).

Can't say I can validly take that position.
It's an interesting conclusion really.

Re: The Chapel
Not really sure what that has to do with multiverses...
That being said I put no stock in the theory of multiverses... I've heard enough to be very unimpressed with that and string theory and much of what has come out of theoretical physics for the past while.

Sure...TheReal_ND wrote:Agnostic then. Much more honest.
but agnostic sounds too vague for my liking...
Basically like saying "I don't know"...
I feel pretty strongly about the first number of statements in my post... those seem to add up to more than "I don't know".

Re: The Chapel
Agnostic is exactly like saying I don't know. With regards to is there/is there not a god, it's the only truly honest position, since neither of the other positions can be proven.
I mean, Kirk Cameron thinks a banana peel proves god, because it covers the banana so perfectly. His silliness aside, there is literally no proof on either side.
