I see no smoke column because the Preds want Karlsson. The smoke column in Montreal was generated by other folks than PK. So just say all you want, but you're a rube if you buy Habs Hostile Witness Propaganda to justify their idiotic trade, just sayun'.Smitty-48 wrote:Just sayun', where there's smoke there's fire, and two smoke columns in a row over PK, in just one year, is quite the pattern.

Well that's only because of the contract though, if Doughty or Subban were 4.7 million, you'd rather have one of them over McDonagh, and you know it. Don't snow, you know who the actual better defensemen are, and both Doughty and Subban are a big step up from McDonagh, talent wise.Smitty-48 wrote:I actually think Doughty is overrated. Same as PK. I'd honestly rather have Ryan McDonagh at 4.7.StCapps wrote:I mean, all the biggest knocks on Subban are shared by Doughty, except he is a little bit better, and he's white. Yet the media loves them some Doughty and hates PK Subban.

I actually think Doughty, Subban, Burns, and Karlsson are all overrated, Karlsson is obviously an offensive superstar, but defensively he's a bit of a liability.
Duncan Kieth was the real deal, but he's lost a step. Hedman is the real deal, I think Hedman is better than Karlsson.

Yeah but they are all better than McDonagh even if their contracts aren't. Like I said, ultimate hair splitting you are doing there. Drop the moneyball filter for half a second and evaluate based on talent.Smitty-48 wrote:I actually think Doughty, Subban, Burns, and Karlsson are all overrated, Karlsson is obviously an offensive superstar, but defensively he's a bit of a liability.

Liking Hedman more than Karlsson is not an indictment of either guy. Neither is preferring Karlsson to Subban. Those are three of the top 10 defensemen in the NHL right now, hell you could make they are in the top 5.

I evaluate based on complete player, McDonagh is more complete, he can do it all, Subban, Karlsson, Burns are too specialized, Doughty is not quite as specialized, but still gets burned in his own end a lot and is soft as butter to boot. Like, Matt Tkachuk called doughty out, Doughty folded, Ryan McDonagh would have stepped up and answered the bell.

Jack of all trades master of none, I prefer a specialist who is well rounded, as long as they are still really good all around. Being more well balanced doesn't automatically make you better.Smitty-48 wrote:I evaluate based on complete player, McDonagh is more complete, he can do it all, Subban, Karlsson, Burns are too specialized, Doughty is not quite as specialized, but still gets burned in his own end a lot and is soft as butter to boot. I like McDonagh a lot, quietly goes about his business, not flashy, doesn't get a lot of hype, but highly underrated and a dirt cheap moneyball steal at 4.7.

Right but McDonagh is not better than Hedman, Karlsson or Subban, talent wise, you might prefer his contract, but be real dude. Being well rounded doesn't make you the best, lots of guys are well rounded, especially at the elite level.Smitty-48 wrote:I like McDonagh a lot, quietly goes about his business, not flashy, doesn't get a lot of hype, but highly underrated and a dirt cheap moneyball steal at 4.7.
