The First R Rated Movie I saw Was Terminator 2 Judgement day. I was 6 or 7. Had to watch it at my friend's house because his parents were actually cool.

I remember thinking how tough, badass, and sneaky I was after I saw it, even though it had been out for years at that point lol. I'm pretty sure I watched Starship Troopers at his place too in elementary school, and that was even more awesome at the time because it had nudity.

You had one of those cool dads. Eventually, my parents kind of caved when I was like 9 or so, and started letting me watch R-rated movies. The weird thing is, my mom is really religious, so the violence and language wasn't her sticking point, it was the nudity. She was more worried about me seeing a pair of tits than some guy getting disembowelled on screen. I never quite got that but whatever

The thing is, the library used to have movies there and you could rent them any age. So I'd always look on the back of them and see what they were rated R for. Nudity? Doesn't matter the movie, I'm checking it out and taking this home. Some of my first beat off sessions in middle school were thanks to the Public Library System.

Had to keep pausing and rewinding my VCR.

I remember you mentioning going to NYC with your father back in the day. Were you born in the states? Did your parents split and your dad take you to Canada? I remember you mentioning you joined the Canadian Armed Forces right out of high school so I guess you were living there by then.

But me and and my Da loved Cali so much, we went twice a year

I was born in Vancouver, my father was also born in Vancouver, his father was born in Hamilton

His father however, moved the family to Los Angeles in the 50s, they all became Americans

Then my Da moved back to Vancouver, in pursuit of my Canadian moms

Vancouver has turned into a fucking baller city from what I understand. Its gotten a shitload of money pumped into it from all over the world with some prime real estate. When you were a kid was it like that?

What was LA like back in the 70's? Probably pretty wild, counterculture going strong. Weirdly enough, I read LA and Orange County used to be fair conservative. Republican strongholds in the state. The shift is wild.
