And you know that whoever signs him will be paying more than that, and for a far longer term, guaranteed.

It's like Montreal with Karl Alzner, $4.12 million for Alzner is not actually that bad, but it's the five years that stings, also, is that really the kind of defenseman Montreal needs? Near as I can tell, goals against isn't actually their problem.

You know what's even more brutal? The defenseman that Carolina was offering for Duchene? Noah Hanafin? Nope. Justin Faulk? Nope.

Ryan Murphy. And the Canes just bought him out.

Still would be better off signing Ryan Murphy now, for a short term low risk stop gap, than signing yourselves up for seven years of Shattencancer.

Indeed, someone please tell Joe Sakic that.

Seven years of Shattencancer is going to make the Phaneuf contract look like a steal. You'd be better off trading for Dion, Ottawa is looking to dump that contract, only one year in, you could get him for a bucket of pucks right now.

It's like you're in the dock waiting to find out if you're going down the river to the big house for the next seven years, Shattencancer would be the straw that broke the camels back in Colorado, that will prolly get Sakic fired, but too late then, because whoever takes over will be stuck with captain bad hair day for six more years.

I mean, you're a Leaf Hater, I should prolly be wanting to see you suffer for your crimes, but even I wouldn't wish Shattencancer upon you.
