You fucking lucky son of a bitch. You get to watch the greatest shows of all time for the first time, so jealous.
I've just watched the first two episodes. Difficult to go to straight after The Wire as it is a bit slapstick in comparison.
I'm not gripped yet.
The Wire was a slow burn too, as you recall. All the greatest shows of all time are, whether they grip you right off the bat or not.

Breaking Bad is very different show in tone from The Wire, the juxtaposition is notable.
It seems shallow in comparison.
I'll keep going, as you say, it took me 2 or 3 episodes to get fully into The Wire.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It's not shallow at all, don't let the shows sense of humor trick you, they just tell their stories differently. Both shows teach you how to watch them in the early going, and then once you get it, everything starts to click.

Of the three greatest shows of all time, The Sopranos grabs you the quickest off the bat and is able to get to the peak of it's performance the quickest, while The Wire and Breaking Bad are slower burns that peak near the end. They are also the most consistently high quality shows with the fewest bad episodes, the combination of peak and consistency is what stands out about them the most, and puts them on another level.

God damn it, so many great shows I can't watch for the first time. On the upside I've watched a lot of pretty, pretty, pretty good shows, and can discuss them in depth, often with excellent insight.

Double-edged sword. This is a big reason why my tv recommendations are so good though. If you're ever looking for another great show you haven't seen yet, I got you covered, I can even tailor my recommendations to your particular tastes.

Have you seen Horace and Pete?
Alan Alda, Steve Buschemi, Louis CK.

I don't watch too much TV, its overwhelming trying to pick something.

Drop that top 20, I probably haven't seen 15 of them.
