Saw DAC 10 years ago. Tbh, the show sucked. He just did medleys of a few dozen songs and bitched about not getting credit for them.Fife wrote:I'm down with Southaven on June 16.
BTW, did you know that DAC is going to be a short drive over to Greensboro on June 23?
Let's all name all the other acts that you can drive to listen to who were not only active in 19-fucking-75, but were fucking based back then.

Listening to this and reminiscing about the time when it still was legal to be grossly offensive in the UK.

You know God Save the Queen was banned from the radio and even the title of the album got the record company into court to defend a charge of indecency for the use of bollocks?Hastur wrote:Listening to this and reminiscing about the time when it still was legal to be grossly offensive in the UK.
Richard Branson was able to show that ballock or bollocks was 19th century slang for clergymen and got away with it.
edit- found a decent article on the case
http://www.bombedoutpunk.com/history/le ... osecution/
Mr Kingsley said bollocks remained in colloquial use down through the centuries and was also used to denote a clergyman in the last century. ”The word has been used as a nickname for clergymen, who are known to talk a good deal of rubbish and so the word later developed the meaning of nonsense,” he said. ”They became known for talking a great deal of bollocks”. (I’d love to know what the Prosecution made of this, if anything, in relation to this former clergyman’s testimony!).
The prosecutor then asked Kingsley a question that must rank in the annals of British legal history for having so many swear words in such a short sentence, uttered by a lawyer who wasn’t quoting from reported speech. He asked if the words fuck, cunt and shit also appeared in the Dictionary of Slang from which he had quoted. Kingsley replied ”if the word fuck does not appear in the dictionary it should.”
Mr. Mortimer, in summing up the case for the defence, said: “What sort of country are we living in if a politician comes to Nottingham and speaks here to a group of people in the city centre and during his speech a heckler replies ‘bollocks’. Are we to expect this person to be incarcerated, or do we live in a country where we are proud of our Anglo Saxon language? Do we wish our language to be virile and strong or watered down and weak?”
The Magistrates’ Chairman said: ”Much as my colleagues and I wholeheartedly deplore the vulgar exploitation of the worst instincts of human nature for commercial profits by both you and your company, we must reluctantly find you not guilty of each of the four charges.”

They were offensive to anyone with an ounce of musical taste.

Sex Pistols were meh. I don't really get into gay punk so much. If you are going to listen to British gay bands, you might as well go with Pet Shop Boys.

The Pistols were a rubbish band, they couldn't play live and only made one decent album. That one decent album is a seminal moment in popular music though. Has to be in any serious music lovers collection along with dark side of the moon or Led Zep IV.
Anarchy in the UK
Pretty Vacant
God save the Queen
.....all classic songs
Not a single dud song on Never mind the bollocks.

I have listened to the album in its entirety a few times. They are more into peddling attitude than listenable music. Comparing Never Mind the Bollocks to Dark Side of the Moon is the one of the most outlandish things I've heard.
