Re: Socialism
Every environmental collapse, save perhaps Easter Island's collapse, was due to urbanization. It's like he's living in an alternate reality or something. Urban people consume far more food and durable goods than rural people. They completely devastate their surrounding environment and, if climate scientists are to be believed, the Earth's climate too.
Then there is the concentration of their pollution on a relatively small region. Spread that impact out, and ecological system can possibly absorb it without collapsing. Put it all in one place, and you end up with the toxic lakes and rivers of the industrial north.

I think the apocalyptic sect I'd compare Bewster closest to is the Buggers. They would fuck eachother in the ass, which is where the term buggery comes from. Maybe all that ass fucking is just him preparing himself for prison, because he knows the govt is onto his welfare fraud setup. Those multiple properties that gross slumlord owns will be turned into Climate re-education camps. Maybe his family will be deported to the countryside where they can actually grow food and lower the eco-impact.

Re: Socialism
Whatever the reason for the collapse, the effects will incite a war in the early stages.
At fifteen minutes notice to launch, the nukes will get you long before the climate change does.

Do you buy all the scientists during the Cold War that said if about 100 hydrogen bombs were detonated that the atmosphere would fill with ash and block out sunlight killing all life on Earth? Is that viable, or an earlier version of Al Gore?

That was a communist myth propagated by assholes like Sagan to demoralize the American people in the face of Soviet aggression.

I was pretty impressed with how Sagan and DeGrasse Tyson were able to design a lot of those SpaceX rockets. They took their own blueprints of the Saturn V's and Apollo 11 lunar module, and expanded upon them. We need more great men like that in NASA to educate the public.

There would be a Nuclear Winter effect, but it's overstated, wouldn't be an extinction event.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 12:25 pmDo you buy all the scientists during the Cold War that said if about 100 hydrogen bombs were detonated that the atmosphere would fill with ash and block out sunlight killing all life on Earth? It's not rock from space, even a big nuke is insignificant in comparison to that.

Plants wouldn't be fucked right? Just animals with bones, because the radiation binds to the calcium? My dad used to watch those Cold War nuclear fallout PSAs/docs as a kid, and he said they always talked about Strontium 90 or whatever.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 12:29 pmThere would be a Nuclear Winter effect, but it's overstated, wouldn't be an extinction event.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 12:25 pmDo you buy all the scientists during the Cold War that said if about 100 hydrogen bombs were detonated that the atmosphere would fill with ash and block out sunlight killing all life on Earth? I don't know if idoine really does shit for anyone or if that is simply a way to calm the public down. Like, its not over guys, you aren't fucked, take this iodine. Basically the same thing as hiding under desks. What is that really gonna do? C'mon
