He actually returned to West Germany in the 50's and died there in 82'.

After his funeral they flew m4's in formation but denied it had anything to do with it.
2500+ sorties. Shot down six times behind enemy lines running rescue missions in a stukka. Shot down and/or crash landed something like 30 times. World class athlete. Had to practically fight his way out of hordes of medics trying to keep him grounded. Got so many awards they had to make a new one for him. Iron Cross with Gold Oak Leaves and Diamond Swords. Hitler himself tried to talk him out of flying but he said that if he had to give up the fight he would have to return his honors and refused to do that.
They don't make human beings like this anymore.
