Some cultures eat parts of recently deceased relatives as a sign of respect.
Keeping a little bit of Granny alive by consuming her and taking her into yourself.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Really just an excuse to keep the tribes water, i.e., nutrients....

I don't really have a problem with them eating dead relatives...

Was going to put this in the China hate thread but found this one first.
Warning, the images in the link are hard to stomach (pun intended).

Not sure how reputable the site is though after looking through their other stories.

Old hoax. Like the bonsai kittens, it comes back regularly.

Watched a movie last week about Cro-Magnon in 20k BC called Alpha. In it a teen is lost, and tames an adult wolf. Yet, that's not the most ridiculous thing in it. He's starving in a blizzard, and stumbles across a skin hut with a frozen guy sitting outside it. He searches it and is disappointed there's no food. I was screaming at the screen "eat the dude!!" There's tons of evidence our ancestors would not have hesitated. Most likely all the Neanderthals were simply eaten by the Cro-Magnon, at least the ones they didn't fuck.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

However...
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldn ... cials.html
South Korea has seized thousands of smuggled drug capsules filled with powdered flesh from dead babies, which some people believe can cure disease. The capsules were made in northeastern China from babies whose bodies were chopped into small pieces and dried on stoves before being turned into powder, the Korea Customs Service said.

Customs officials refused to say where the dead babies came from or who made the capsules, citing possible diplomatic friction with Beijing.

Chinese officials ordered an investigation into the production of drugs made from dead fetuses or newborns last year.

The customs office has discovered 35 smuggling attempts since August of about 17,450 capsules disguised as stamina boosters, and some people believe them to be a panacea for disease, the customs service said in a statement.

The capsules of human flesh, however, contained bacteria and other harmful ingredients.

I think that's that first time I've seen that. It may have had validity during Mao's years though.
