We have 4 power monopolies here in State. All of Northern CA is PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric), LA and Orange County have a separate power and gas monopoly, Southern California Edison and SoCal Gas, and San Diego has SDG&E.

PG&E is independent, SDG&E and SoCal Gas are owned by Sempra, and Edison is owned by Edison.

Power Utilities nationwide are a heinous example of crony capitalism at work

Yeah, I know of all of them, they go through National Grid up here if they want their power sent to our house. They pay a transfer fee for using NG's lines...

It's only in Mass and NY, as far as I can tell, either way, it sucks.
