Yeah, this is the 'bride-too-far' that pot advocates always seem to cross. It's not a magical cure-all, it's a mild drug that you should be encouraging people to relax about. Don't pretend it cures cancer and blindness, just relax the issue.C-Mag wrote:katarn wrote:It's like alcohol of cigarettes there- no minors allowed. But MJ is nothing but good for humans, why restrict it only to adults

I'd rather just decriminalize it in my state. Let people grow it for personal use within a certain amount. Issue fines for selling it but not buying it. Move on and focus on the heroin and meth.

I do agree with that but decriminalization alone would not allow people to grow for personal use. Ohio has decriminalized it in 1975 for up to 100 grams but there is no way in hell you can grow it legally.Speaker to Animals wrote:I'd rather just decriminalize it in my state. Of course it's possible. You just make it illegal to sell it or grow more than a certain amount.

I don't know what state you live in but I guarantee that they will never pass a law decriminalizing it and allowing people to grow it. If they are going to allow people to grow then they will want tax revenue for it and that is a whole different story.....well I guess they could put a provision in for a personal growers permit but again if they are going to go down the revenue path they will go for full legalization for tax revenues. Which I'm okay will lol. All I'm hoping for is a Colorado like legalization in Ohio so that I could start a small cultivation business. Currently the medical legalization in Ohio makes it impossible for a true small business to start up. You better have several million in assets to start a medical cultivation business in Ohio under the current law. Colorado has it right and Ohio took NY approach which only benefits the already wealthy. It's a damn shame.Speaker to Animals wrote:SilverEagle wrote:I do agree with that but decriminalization alone would not allow people to grow for personal use. The only way to tax it is if it's legal to sell, and I am saying we should NOT make it legal to sell that garbage. It's just not worth enforcing criminalization of marijuana when we have much a more serious drug epidemic.

I'm not saying that and I agree that there is a MUCH more serious drug epidemic in our country, I've lost a cousin to it and my wife has lost two cousins to it. What I'm saying is that there is no way a State would go down the road that you would like because they want the revenue from it. I understand you're wishes and point of view but I hope you see what I'm getting at. I'm looking at it through the greedy eyes of government when it comes to what kind of law they will pass.Speaker to Animals wrote:SilverEagle wrote:I don't know what state you live in but I guarantee that they will never pass a law decriminalizing it and allowing people to grow it. Depends on the state. I could see my state doing exactly that since there still exist a lot of people who disapprove of drug abuse in general. It wasn't that long ago there were still dry counties here. But on the other hand, you have a lot degenerate types in the cities that want it.
Destroying the community for tax revenue and becoming a narco state is just not going to fly any time soon. But decriminalizing the less dangerous drugs so the police can focus on the drugs that are killing so many people is feasible.

Yes it is theoretically feasible....just don't get your hopes up.Speaker to Animals wrote:Depends on the state.
