Whether to buy now, or wait for the demand to pop... that is the question.
Smitty’s correct on this: if it’s your forever home, how much it costs is almost immaterial.
It’s pretty damn material when you’re paying a mortgage at 70.
Got a 30yr mortgage in 1991, paid it off in 2003.
Mind you, I was "pre-approved" for almost $50k more than I actually spent, I wasn't gonna set myself up for that much of a struggle financially, so I was able to pay $200-$300/mo extra on the principal most of the time.

Property taxes & basic bills, I could probably survive ok on $1000/mo or so now if I had to.

I joke I could probably flip burgers at McDs and survive... Not that I'd want to, but it's a comfortable place to be.

Not when minimum wage hits $15 and McD’s goes 95% automated. ;)

For fuck sake, 1984 is NOT an instruction manual!

Perhaps better, I'm a computer/electronics/tech guy, I could probably fix the automated burger flipper, unlike most of the people they hire that can't seem to comprehend that a "black coffee" means no cream & no sugar.

it's not racism which gets black men shot, they just have more contact with the police
It's not contact with cops. It's what they do after contact that gets them shot.

idk, I did some pretty crazy things when I was young, including battling with cops

the only reason I didn't get a record from it, is that I was army, so they let us go after, armed agent solidarity

I was in this street fight one time, and a lady cop tried to take me down

I just flipped her on her ass, reflexively, I was in the middle of a brawl

then two huge man cops crushed me into the pavement

but the lady cop had her gun drawn on me by that point, she was enraged

it's like if you live in the hood you encounter the cops in a tactical mode at all times

one time I was walking to the gas station to get cigarettes

on the way to the gas station I got rousted by cops in a squad car

they determined that I wasn't the guy they were looking for, so they let me go

walking back from the gas station, I got rousted again, this time by SWAT cops in an unmarked van

after they let me go, I said you guys rousted me twice in five minutes, wtf ?

they said it was my fault for walking alone on the streets after dark

that was just Fifty One Division, the hood cops operate by hood rules

they didn't care if you were black or white, young & male & walking around in the hood was the profile
