How does one strategize for totalitarian government? The toadies didn’t seem to fare any better than the resistors in past examples.

How to go gray man in the digital age? Your past Facebook posts are all stored somewhere, regardless of what you do.

But assuming that the Purge doesn’t go quite that far, how does one personally cope with being unable to speak freely and express dissent?

I just finished Volume 1 of Gulag Archipelago, and the picture seems to be one of only engaging with trusted friends, and always running the risk of total loss, no matter what you do.

I've had long conversations with people that lived under 3 different Communist regimes. There were some central messages.

1) There's hardly anyone you can trust. Often, not even family
2) The regime will control food as an ultimate way to control people. There will be rationing.
3) There is no reason to produce more than is required, any surplus will be taken by the State.

In America, they still have to take guns. That's the toughest thing to do. It's part of the American experience and genetics. I've said this many times, and I'll say it again. Americans were dissatisfied with how the Crown treated them for over a hundred years, and the Crown became increasingly punitive. Americans put up with loss of free speech, increased taxes, having your person and home searched on a whim, having Soldiers put up in your house and take you bed, all of it and yet they didn't revolt. Only when they moved to take firearms did fighting explode.
The hardest thing to let go of for many people is telling the truth. In a totalitarian communist state everyone lies all the time. Someone telling the truth will be shunned and weeded out. Put in an asylum.
You need to adopt a cynical stance. Use irony and sarcasm in all communication, no straight talking. That obfuscates your true feelings while still allowing for some truth to seep out like an emergency valve.

It's my own words, but it's what I've learned from reading and listening to people from behind the iron curtain. Sweden is located right next to it, so I'm no stranger to the thinking.

It's going to be like that here now. Libertyists have no supporters; those that would have are all Covidians or followers of Q. I literally couldn't fill a room up with people who would listen to what I have to say, and in a couple years, if I tried, I'll be re-educated.

The truth will set you free. To keep people in chains you need to keep them from hearing and saying what's true. The CCP knows all about this and your tech companies will help them implement it.
They will not control you by controlling the food, that is the old way. Now they will make you opt in to the control by offering credit and services based on your behavior and speech. You credit score will be complemented by a social score. To opt out will mean you will be excluded from payment-, insurance- and finance products. Physical money will be increasingly harder to get and use.

All is not lost. Most Americans do not want to see the US turned into a socialist or fascist state of any kind. They cannot just turn things full blast or there will be a major backlash. This is why we cannot stoop to their level, because every time they take a step towards their goals the stronger the pushback will become. This war has only started in sincerity in 2016. Unfortunately for us Trump was a bumbling fool when it comes to politics. They have started to lose their grip on the American people, they are desperate which is why they have gone to such great lengths, but what happened on Capitol Hill will only help them to regain that grip.

If we want to get this movement back on track, the first step would be to separate from Qanon. Conspiracy theories do us no good. I am convinced Q is malicious, and is a misinformation campaign in order to paint the right as fools and incite violence.

The second step is for Trump to pass the torch to a better leader and politician. MAGA should be about MAGA not Trump.

The third is to eliminate mail-in and extreme early voting. These were the mechanisms that allowed Biden to win. Without those it would have been an easy Trump victory. There were a lot of positive trends in the vote that got diluted by the massive amounts of uninformed voters who normally would not have voted. Eliminate the mechanism that allowed this to happen, and you can prevent this in the future.

Finally, reform section 230 to better define what "good faith" means. Moderation of forms should only ever fall into the categories of off-topic, bad behavior (trolling), or illegality. The moment you begin to censor based on ideas that would be considered on topic for a public forums designated purpose you would then be considered a publisher and liable for the content posted.

Good ideas too late, it will never happen with a Democrat Majority, and with the threat of expanding the SCOTUS... your theory goes out the window.

Democrats control all 3 branches. Mail-in voting will be expanded and set into stone. 230 will be reinforced.

There are no politicians to replace Trump. Look at them all run like cockroaches right now. We have NO support from politicians.

Having the numbers doesn't matter. Being the majority doesn't matter. Power matters, and 99.9% of those in power are going to go along with selling the rest of us out in order cut carve out a little piece for themselves. We are on track for Mexico level corruption with China level suppression. It may be a slower burn, but it's coming and no one in power is going to stop it.
