Its weird how in the scheme of things, this shit hasn't killed that many Americans. Yes, tens of thousands is a lot, but we are talking about diseases here. As I have pointed out before, the reg flu kills about 50k Americans per year. God knows how many die of cancer, hypertension, heart attacks, and diabetes every year. Even this year, those causes will kill far more Americans. Some folks literally hate America, and look for any excuse to say that it is on its last legs.


This ain't knew. When Stalinism and Fascism were big in the 30's many intellectuals* said that those systems were the way of the future. That type of thinking didn't go extinct. Between then and now, we've had academics and nanny staters say that the BRICS, EU, China, and Russia will all supplant America, and that liberty is outmoded. The end of the Cold War, Brazilian turmoil, Narendra Modi, Brexit, Bolsonaro, and Trump have all thrown a wrench into the idea that we are global faggots who exist under the thumb of socialism. These lowlifes wait for the latest crisis, and proclaim that the end is near. If social media wasn't available, they'd probably be wearing sandwich boards at busy intersections saying stuff like "Greed=Dead", "Public Health over Profit" or "CO2 will Kill us all." This COVID stuff has given them a platform, but it goes deeper than that. They have a mixture of contempt for liberty (if it doesn't line up with their own conception of what society should be) and America (which has defied all the globohomo paradigms). Fundamentally, they would rather the world ended over conceding their views might be wrong.

I think all this corona shit is overblown, but watch how the same ppl who said this is the end will effortlessly glide over the failure of that prediction onto the next crisis. The next one will for sure be the end of America. Like clockwork.
