The entire millennial generation is a little fuzzy on the whole concept of having their asses roundly kicked.
It hasn't done them any favors.

Not that cops should kick the shit out of skateboarders.
But knowing that some *will* can save you a painful lesson - especially if you're used to virtual interactions where you can just say whatever you want to whomever.

I mean, I grew up in a Canada where you didn't start aguments with people

life was not an internet forum

if you went around back in the day trying to turn everything into a debate

that would end in fisticuffs pretty quick

not that I didn't kick peoples asses in the streets for chirping me, I certainly did

but I'm married now, a husband can't be going around looking for trouble like that, I keep my powder dry

I moved around enough in my youth to learn that talking shit to people you don't know well, in any capacity, can be bad for your teeth. Which ... you know, had dual benefits. First, it taught me to watch myself, and show some respect because you never know who you're dealing with. Second, taught me boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, and general street fighting - so if interactions did go sideways I wasn't unprepared.

yeah, I was the middle class white boy growing up in the hood

so I did Shotokan Karate and I went to the Cabbagetown Boxing Club too

then I joined the old school army which was gladiator school

then I took a job as a bouncer on the side

Tho ... you know ... sometimes you gotta put someone down quick, so sufficient can still be pretty bad, depending.

well the rednecks here don't pack heat, in Canada we settled things with our fists

but up in Renfrew County where I was posted, there's some big ol country boys who liked to fight

and when you're my size, they will try to intimidate you

the Airborne Regiment was based there

there was a bar called Sassy's right outside the gates of the base

it was gladiator school, the Ludus, you either backed people off, or you were their bitch

you had no choice, you had to stand and deliver, this is why I pumped so much iron

the 82nd Airborne used to come up, and they honestly loved it, they were into it, they loved Canada

we took them 82nd Airborne troops to Ottawa one time, and just went a massacring the civvies in the streets
